Hello all,

Well, I've seen many strange names, and I always when I notice them I think: WTF? (note: this is not negative, I think WTF? quite a lot.) Examples are: Speekerphone, Flamingo with a spoon productions, 17thletterfilms, NaziActionFigure, bubblefax, happyhands man, Flamekebab, and there are many, many more. (note: sorry if I spelled a name wrong, doing this with just my brains.) Well, I'll start with my name: When I was younger, like 9 or so, I wanted to become a photographer and a musician, Phusician came in my thoughts and I thought it sounded cool and since then I use it. :D

thanks, Phusician

You didnt mention me?

I have the most Nonsensical Name out there.

Okay, Once I was browsing an online dictionary for school work, and Nonsensical Caught my eye, I loved the way Nonsensical sounded. I immediately created Nonsensical Studios (my other production company was My street name at the time.)

ciwi286

One day when I was really young friends and I gave everyone a nickname that was a food and that sounded like their name. Mine was kiwi... and it stuck. Then when I had to choose a screen name for something I made it ciwi because my name starts with a C. the numbers 286 (or 28609 if you know me on some other sites) was just the first recommended screenname since ciwi was apparently taken. Since that I use Ciwi286(09) for everything.

UndergroundLairProductions
06-18-2008, 10:43 AM
Well, I came up with mine because I've always had this fascination with scum and villainy in film, and so my name is really in homage to the original Batman series with Adam West. That's why my logo is tilted, similar to all of the villains' 'Underground Lairs' on that show. Besides that, it sounds awesome.

trspballer7
06-18-2008, 10:52 AM
well I used to be really into skating (inline roller blading) and the brand of skates I used were TRS alpha 6-s. And then I used to be really into paintballing. so that is the
pballer" part. and 7 is my favorite number, and I usually add that to every name. so that is why it is
"TRS-PBALLER-7"

toppie34
06-18-2008, 11:01 AM
toppie34 has a long history because toppie in dutch means the best. So when i started a game toppie was already taken so i just made a number up that was 34 so there it is toppie34. Since then there have been many variations like toppie99 or topie34.

ClayOgre
06-18-2008, 12:05 PM
I used to dabble in polymer clay sculpture and jewelery making, and I picked that name for the forum I was on for that.

I hate coming up with names, so I just stuck with it, even when I quit messing with Poly Clay.

BlazingProductions
06-18-2008, 12:14 PM
mines cause one day me and my friend were in my dad's car, and i said "hey dad" to get his attention before asking him a question, and he immediately turned around a said "you wanna get high? FLAME ON!" Yes it was a fantastic moment, so we considered making it Flaming productions, but i think you can all guess what that would lead people to believe:geeeee: ... and no I'm not. So we changed it to Blazing Productions.

happyhands man
06-18-2008, 12:42 PM
when me and my friends where deciding on what our name should be one of my friends little brother had a little face drawn on his hand and he kept saying it was happy[he was only 3] and he kept asking us if our hands where happy and he was singing "happyhands, happyhands" and we decided that we would be HappyHands Productions.
And another guy in happyhands made this profile for me cause i had broken fingers at the time and i was telling him what to type and for some reason when i said "type happyhands productions for the name" he typed happyhands man

17thletterfilms
06-18-2008, 12:52 PM
What's the 17th letter of the alphabet? My favorite letter. It originated with a joke I was trying to play on my sister when she was younger asking if she spelled my name right on a school assignment. I told her that there was a letter at the end of my name that was silent which she had forgotten. The 17th letter of the alphabet. Also, the number 17 has a lot of other value to me for different reasons, which I will not expand upon now.

What was that?

Anyway.

Me (Kaleb) and my friend (Matthew) both like making movies. So naturally our name was KMProductions (Kaleb Matthew Productions) or KMP for short. When we learned that you need is liscense to use the word "productions" we made it KMPfilms. The KMP is now in honor of our original name.

Flaming kebab?
*takes offence*

Other wrong versions of my name:

FlameKebab
Flame Kebab
Flame Cake Bob
FlamékébabI can't be bothered to think of any more, but either way, wrong!
"Flamekebab". One word, one capital.

There's no interesting story. I like fire, I always liked the Firebat in Starcraft, back when I went to play on BattleNet many years ago, I needed to choose a handle, so I chose "Flamekebab".

Apocalypse WOW!
06-18-2008, 01:28 PM
Hmmm. Well I'm very fascinated about the end of the world, and while I was watching Dr. Strangelove I just thought about how little everyone panicked about the end of the world, and then a bit later i watched Apocalypse Now, and I just thought it up, so now it is my production company name.
yup.

Kohrsfilms
06-18-2008, 01:31 PM
Mine is pretty straight forward. My last name is Kohrs and I make films. So it's Kohrs Films. It's not as original as some of the other names on here but I think it has a ring to it.

06-18-2008, 01:54 PM
The 'grey room' is the brain - and the name speaks of the creative spirit within us all...

erm...

actually...

that's not the real reason I picked it...

...when I finally bagged a room to use for editing, I painted it grey. It was then a simple job of choosing between 'films', 'productions' or 'pictures' to stick on the end. I figured 'pictures' would sound better when said by a husky sounding voiceover man, should I ever make it big ;)...

HunnyBunchFilms
06-18-2008, 02:32 PM
Hunny Bunch Films is the name of our production company. I got the name from "The Simpsons" It was the episode where Grandpa's kidneys burst. When Homer ran away from the surgery he ran into the sea captain. Honey Bunch was written on the side of his boat. I watched that episode on high school and coincidentally the next day a friend of mine says "We need a name" Me and my friends all hung out with each other through all 4 years of high school. He suggested "Little Betty's" after the snack cake(he was a fatass) I said Honey Bunch. We couldn't decide on a name so we remained nameless. I always thought Honey Bunch sounded funny so I kept it and decided to name our "company" that. I'm not sure why I changed the spelling of honey to hunny though.

trspballer7
06-18-2008, 02:37 PM
well I named my group "Swine Films" for many reasons:

1. I feel the whole human race are basically swine

2. There is a song by the band "Elysia" called swine, and I love it.

3. I love the book "Animal Farm"

4. I am a vegetarian, and I thought it would be weird to have the name of an animal as my group.

BRanger62
06-18-2008, 03:22 PM
My name stands for "Blue Ranger" and 62 was my jersey number.

I played football for a couple of years now and the team came up with a nickname for me because I wore these goggle-like glasses under my helmet. My coach said I looked like a superhero, and then somebody yelled out "The Blue Ranger".

So it stuck for a while. Until it was changed to "The Iron Man".

An "Event Horizon" is when you take a dump so big that it crests over the surface of the water in the toilet. I cracked up when I read that in Maddox's Encyclopedia of Manliness.

edwardlavender
03-06-2009, 12:29 AM
so one day i was training my friend for a job and we were in the mall in my dads shop.

it being a slow day led us to become insanely bored. we decided to prank phone a lot of the stores around us using one stupid name. then my friend came up with THIS name (edward lavender) as our original name's right hand man.

i thought it was so hilarious. it rolled right off his tongue. an inside joke had grown and soon he became anything we wanted him to be.

now i use him pretty much wherever possible. i use the name in scripts a lot. even if he isn't a character...the name is somewhere.

Me and my friends were sitting at my office desk thinking up names. We had just finished filming a really bad action movie (which we thought was amazing at the time) and we wanted a name for our group. Everyone was coming up with crazy cliche names like High Octane and Adrenaline, so I thought I would contribute with Ionfilms. We all like it and It's been or name every since.

Back in the 90's when I first started flying online at the GameZone
in MS flight sim, and needed a nickname, and because I'm a preacher I wanted
the name "Skypilot". ( slang for army chaplains )
It was taken so I exchanged pilot for my name and have had it ever since.

knightly
03-09-2009, 05:40 PM
In the late 80's, I was "Black Knight" on the local BBS's (think internet, but much smaller - and using phonelines to dial in slowly, and not downloading anything larger than 1Mb cause it would take more than a day on my super zippy 2400 baud modem). When we moved to the larger "online" world, I signed up on LambdaMOO, Black Knight was already taken, so I became Knightly figuring there were many witty puns in that name.

I'm still on there: telnet lambda.moo.mud.org:8888

it's hosted at Xerox PARC in Palo Alto, CA. Still around, not as flashy as this place though.

I named myself Mattageddon because I thought it sounded epic. I then became Mattageddon of Polearmia after I had made a fictional place called "Polearmia" from the root word "polearm". I just shortened it to Mattageddon. I got Mattageddon by combining "Matt" and "Armageddon"

My handle was the name of my Model-making firm. It has also become the name of my Production Company.

How I came up with the name in the first place is pretty interesting. I was eating fortune cookies, and one cookie had two fortunes. The first one I pulled out, without noticing the second. I ate the cookie, and felt the paper. I pulled what was left of it off my tongue, and only one word was readable: "Artistic"
