I really wanted to get Mogulers involved in this last year, but when I found out about the contest before Halloween, the deadline had already passed.
NOT SO THIS YEAR.
ChillerTV is offering $5000 dollar prizes to three lucky winners, in three catagories, Best Costume/Make-up, Creepiest Character, and Best Picture overall.
They are looking for 3-6 minute horror shorts, and I know a lot of you love horror, and have made some really great stuff, and I know that you wouldn't mind $5,000 dollars in helping you get some new equipment or create some larger products.
I don't want to sound arrogant, but from what I saw last year, I feel confident that Mogulers could dominate in all categories this year.
SO check out the blog, check out the site, check out the rules, and get cracking, I want to see what you guys can do when you put your minds to it.

Sounds cool, I would actually like to do this. But I support what Ciwi said, is there somewhere we can see other vids to know what to expect?

Here they are, "Rita" won Best Picture.
"Pretty Toy" won Creepiest character.
And "Beat" won Best Special Effects, which has been changed to "Best Make-up/Costume" for this year.

Those are some pretty messed up films.
Rita kinda freaked me out. I hate kid + Horror.

Wow! Those winning films were great. I think "pretty toy" had amazing effects, but "beat" with the constant heartbeat was very effective.

They are good, but I definitely feel confident that Mogulers could do better, especially with 5,000 dollars per win.

Money! The promise green whets our greed on an Indy scale!
But I only saw Rita for now, and I thought it was very well done and quite creepy. I have to agree with whoever said Horror + kids.

I was actually wondering if it were possible to do that.
If it isn't against the rules than I would be fine entering someone elses movie.
Chances are, depending on how busy I become, I won't get to make a movie.
Just let me know and I'll try to enter it.
Oh, and your movie is your movie, keep the money. If I need anything else I'll let you know.

Pretty toy had some really good effects, but for some reason I kept on thinking I was watching a Marylin Manson music vid. Ugh, I hate MM. But woah, those vids were good.

WhAT!?!?!?!?!NOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love horror! This (and the 5 grand) is more than enough incentive for us to get moving with this horror project we've been working on for a few years now! This is great,Thanks for the info Wes!
Is it possible to just have it submitted uner your parents name after we make it?
WesScog
06-21-2008, 08:14 PM
I don't see why you couldn't bring your parents on as a creative partner, and have them submit it.
They can be listed as "Producer" in the credits, and they can be the one who actually submits it.

In a couple of the videos, it looked like there were people in them that were under 18, in Rita there is someone narrating during the beginning that is definitely not over 18.

Just bring a Parent/Uncle/Older Sibling/Older Friend on as a Producer, and get them to submit it.

No problem. But it lets you still get the credit for Directing or Writing it, but they can be the business head for you, if you're still a minor.
Getting a partnership with an American (lots of them here, hint hint.) is also a great way to enter the contest if you just happen to live outside of the US.

Whoa I should so enter in "The Savages". I may have been censored at my schools festival but this seems like its right up my alley. All I have to do is stop being lazy and upload it.... but then again my Dratini isn't going to evolve into Dragonite on its own lol.

Ive noticed that they give me a headache with all the flickers and flashes and not-so-much-plot line. And i noticed that you have to watch the whole movie, you cant skip around. I think we can all rock this thing this year :D :fcross:
PS, im entering too, watch out !:D

Yeah I noticed that too.I found it hard to sit through a whole video when the entire scary factor relies on flickering and unfocused cameras.

I actually got a really good idea from a friend today and thought it would make a good movie, then I saw this contest...
I'm thinking about doing it. It really wouldn't be so hard to shoot.

Yeah I am.I had a screenplay written that I was planning on making into a movie for a few years now and we were thinking we would do it this summer, but that would be about a half hour long.We will make that later in the summer, because I had a really good idea last night for a movie and we already got almost everything ready to shoot. It should be good, and about 3-4 minutes (probably)
