Hey guys, I'm using my friends Sony DCR-TRV280, it's Hi-8 tape with USB streaming.
Anyway when I plug the USB cable (tried all four usb slots) in the computer doesnt seem to detect it, although it connected to upload some sort of audio software. At one point my friend uploaded some video onto a comp with no software (he doesnt even know where the cd is) with no problem.
I know very little about all this stuff, I feel like i'm grasping in the dark and nobody ask has any clue either.
I also downloaded some sort of sony usb drive but it didnt seem to change anything.
I checked Sony for any drivers but I didn't find anything that helped.
Please Indy Mogul, help me!

I dont think it has a firewire jack and I checked with him, this is the only adapter hes ever had with it and hes uploaded with it before.
I turned on the USB streaming and now my computer acknoweldges that its connected, but it says the device is not recognized and that it malfunctioned.

Use your firewire, on Sony cams i-Link, to stream. You will get much better quality.
