So every Tuesday at our apartment out here in LA, we have movie night. We pick a movie we loved when we were kids, and then we make little one minute videos that kind of relate to the movie we're watching.

We watched Pee Wee's Big Adventure a couple weeks ago, and the one minute videos had to fit a "Big Adventure" theme.

This is what my roommate and I made.

Cool video man, when the guy swinged by the light source I thought it was gona break and he'd fall into the lava :D

I think he put a green sheet over the floor then he got a filmed lava floor in 3D from somewhere or made them thereselves and applyed it with the greenscreen.

Nope, we shot it as is, and then I grabbed a LiveType animated background, tweaked its colors and stuff, made it a 3d layer in After Effects and then masked (cropped) out the areas that weren't lava, sometimes rotoscoping (for handheld shots, or when an object gets in the way).

Also used Magic Bullet filters to give everything more of a hot glow.

that was great! i used to do that with friends all the time, of course we didn't have lava that looked that good! or lava of any sort....which must've made us look like real idiots...

That an Unearth tune from their newest record. I generally don't use copyrighted music in my videos, but this was made in a rush and was really only meant to be viewed among our friends.
