Is Final Cut Express 4 a big step up from adobe premiere elements?

And Would a 250gb macbook with 2gb of ram be a good investment for video editing, its the cheapest mac with a good amount of memory

Final cut express is just about the same as elements. I have used both and I prefer adobe premiere just because I learned it first.

You want 4gb ram. Way better and probably a terabyte external harddrive.

I have a Macbook Pro with 2 GB RAM, 2.33 GHz, and a 120GB HDD. I do have a TB external. I run FCE and AE so you really don't need 4 GB.

I have a macbook with 4gb ram and a 160gb hard drive and run the exact same thing as you and it is really smooth. Maybe you don't need it but I would rather be safe than sorry.

...cheapest Macbook. You can get a heck of a lot more machine for the money if you don't need a laptop.

Not true with my "situation" I recently had a virus on my PC so i wanna switch to a mac, and the imacs start at like 1,199 and i know that is cheaper than a macbook, but i will also use this macbook with traveling, school and other things

I don't know anything about Adobe Premier Elements, but I started using FCE when I knew nothing about video editing, and picked it up pretty fast.

Also 2GB of RAM is perfectly capable of running FCE smoothly, and depending on how much footage you're going to need to store, you might need to get an external hard drive in addition to your internal storage.

Well if it does, i want to learn it! I know you can key frame on FCE, although its VERY PAINSTAKING!!! :supermad: But yeah... Im running a Mac Book Pro 17" and a TB of External Hardrive (Which has just died :( ) and its working out fine. If you can, upgrade to Mac Book Pro
