Mic Adapter Question

I've got this adapter lying around that reduces a 1/4" jack down to a 1/8".
Is this bad to use? Does it affect the initial sound quality?

now here is my question
can you buy a adapter for a 360 headset to use on you computer?

It'll be fine if you're plugging into a mono socket. Just be sure to tie off the mic cable somewhere close to it, so that any strain is taken in the tie off point. There's a lot of length in the combined 1/4" jack and 18" reducer, it'll be easy to trash if the cable gets snagged or jarred.
