If you hadn't seen this yet on Vimeo, it's...

The Disposable Film Festival (http://www.disposablefilmfestival.com/)

Don't ask me specifically what constitutes disposable(?) "non-professional devices" - especially since every example they give I personally would not consider disposable (e.g., cellphone, webcam), but I get the spirit of it. If I had to guess, I'd say no camcorders, maybe Aiptek type devices and I'd bet they would frown on stuff with heavy AE compositing and effects. You can definitely tell a whole lotta story with just cuts and a cheap camera, so I think this looks like a lot of fun.

It's sponsored by Vimeo and a bunch of other folks, with screenings in New York and SxSW in March (2009, I hope, not 2008 like it says on the site). There are prizes, but I'm not sure what I'd do with free zipcar service in San Francisco. Deadline is August 31st, so start writing up your script and cajoling your friends into acting, because it's definitely time for a little fun.

Fun, fun, fun.
