It really helps to know what the hell your story is about. Slasher is practically a genre of movies.

I think He should wear a kind of like Pirate Costume . Lots of kids I knew dressed up as pirates for halloween, but the mask should kind of be like a skull.

I think he should be dressed like a little kid, above the knee shorts, and a small striped shirt. Splashed with blood, it would look scary.

I don't know, this seems a little generic to me...
A good slasher film should have some kind of prevailing gimick that relates to how the killer goes about his business.
For example; I once had this idea for a slasher flick called "The Muffin Man" (Although being one of the most prolific genres, it's probably been done), where the title character kills his victims and uses their blood and body parts to make various pastries.
As for his look, I had something like what Till Lindemann (vocalist for Rammstein) is wearing in this video in mind: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Rt7lf3JHk3Q
That's just my take on the subject, but hopefully you get some inspiration from my post.
:fcross:
Either way, good luck with your film
EDIT: Sure enough, a quick google search turned up with a short film from Canada called "The Muffin Man"

me and my brother always joke about this one idea for a killer called cauliflower ear who grabs people by the sides of their head and rubs their ears so hard that they start to develop massive cauliflower ear to the point that all the blood from their head goes into their ears. then he just lets them go as they fall dead to the ground with white, drained of life faces and huge swollen ears.
it's mostly a joke but it's so funny that I kinda wanna do a short like that.
I always pictured him as a big dumb looking white (or recently black) guy with overalls, rolled up legs and a white sleeveless shirt. haha. probably someone that looks like michael berryman

I've seen that Muffin Man movie. It's funny. But back to the topic, I was going to do a slasher where the killer wore a paintball mask. That hasn't been done yet that I'm aware of.

well what i would do (in my opinion) is to make it look like he killed someone, and instead of making the costume, the teen killed a person. skinned their face off and he wears it.
which reminds me of the movie, the devils rejects. the man killed a girls husband and wore his face and messed with the wife.
(add stichings, blood, cuts or whatever to make it look more defining and scary. i know there are some stores who have thin masks that fit on your face, mess around with it and it could look somewhat real)
again, this is just my opinion. i just think that cutting a mans face off and wearing it is pretty freaking cool. :)

He should be wearing a high school wrestling unitard...and be totally batshit crazy like Billy Chapman in Silent Night Deadly Night.

You could look to the Manhunt games for inspiration as well:

If there is anything specific that you need, I'd be willing to help you out. Just let me know.

no offense, but that really sounds alot like the movie halloween.
Edit: i guess you could have the killer wear a common household item like a boot for a mask. also, it would work more if there was a good cause for his insanity, that relates to his costume, like maybe his uncle beat him with boots, so he wears a boot on his head...

OK, I like where you're going with this Idea. I really do. So see, I took the liberty of drawing up a character for you. It took me about an hour, but I think you could really go somewhere with this movie so I kinda made myself do it.

Wow...the movie that reminds you of a person removing someone's face and wearing it for themselves is The Devil's Rejects?
How old are you, son? Do you know where Rob Zombie stole that from?
Sorry, this is off-topic.

I was referring to Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2...but if you know something pre-TCM...by all means, share.

Well I have to say that the face cutting thing actually started with the real life Ed Gein murder(s), which inspired TCM. He wore a flesh mask from what I've read.

Ed Gein killed a few people. As far as I know everything was exaggerated to death.

A couple of good pointers to take for making a slasher psycho are:
- A distinctive silhoutte. He needs to be easily identifiable even when cast in complete shadow by a light source. With Leatherface, it was his apparent 8 foot tall-ness and chainsaw. With Freddie it was the hat and blade-fingers. For a more detailed analysis, I would suggest looking up some of Valve Software's instructional videos on how they made the TF2 characters so that even at range and in shadow, it's immediately apparent who your foe is. It also allows the casting of an ominous shadow over the unaware victim.
- Means, motive and capability. There must be a good reason for his wanton maiming of hapless teenage morons, whether it's to feed a compulsion, sustain his own being or in order to fulfill the terms of a contract, ritual etc. That's his motive. Means usually means a distinctive weapon that is at best, unique and at not best, at least no directly referencing a popular slasher. Capability is all in the attitude and mentality. He cannot feel remorse, pity, nor be stopped by conventional weapons in his quest for blood.
- Costume wise, using old clothes that are unkempt, stained and downright disgusting add to the mentality of him being a misfit. The classic example is of the Ed Gein/ Leatherface mask and apron but at the moment, clowns are popular and the ultimate clown reference point is Pennywise (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It_%28novel%29). The very personficiation of coultriphobia and it sends a chill down the spine of any sane person. To give him a theme requires an elaborate costume however i.e. an escaped mental patient would perhaps require a pair of scrubs or an open straight jacket so it's wholly dependant on what you want the concept to be.
Hope these ideas help. Good luck with your psycho!
