Hey guys. I've been looking for some pretty specific effects lately, but now, I've got a more general request.
I've rented a Men's Hall, I'm having a couple bands play, and the last band is going to be miming over their album version of a song, while we slowly turn all of the audience into zombies, working their way from the zombies that get in and bite and kill the people in the back of the audience all the way up to the stage, and at the end of the song, the band.
I'm putting down tarp and spraying around a LOT of blood, but I don't think that'll do it. The film I'm doing all this for is a fairly tame horror flick as far as gore goes... It has a few shocking scenes, a suicide, etc, but overall, in comparison to, say, Dead Alive!, it's Night of the Living Dead, more about narrative and cinematography than special effects and gore. So, since this "music video" is going to be the final scene in the film, I figure screw it. Let's go all out and give the people the gore they've been waiting for.
So, let's say 100 bucks to do atleast 10 gorey gags. I'm trying to get my hands on a decent, portable air compressor for cheap (suggestions welcome), some hoses, a few hand pumps, and a lot of fake blood, makeup, and cherry juice. I need a LOT of simple, quick, gorey, nasty-ass bits I can do that aren't TOO outlandish (no zombies with guns or Cautionary Tales of Swords stuff, but a little ridiculous is cool if it'll look shocking), basically stuff that zombies can do to the living with their hands and teeth, and some makeup effects that'll look nasty.
For example, one I really want to do is take one of those cheesy halloween zombie costumes with the exposed chest rot and bones, take off that chest section and put it on a person. Fill under that with cherry pie filling, meat, fake blood, styrofoam bits, etc, and have the zombies knock the guy down and just start ripping the stuff out from under his shirt and, subsequently, from under the chest piece. A friend of ours just recently swallowed a lighter (don't ask me how) and volunteered for this bit, so we're gonna have the zombies pull out the lighter as an inside joke. This bit will be fairly simple and probably cost around 10 bucks for all the {buttercup}{buttercup}{buttercup}{buttercup} we rip out of him and the costume we take apart.
Any other suggestions? Make em! Cheap, fairly easy, decent-looking, and GOREY!
