I was thinking of getting a lens and a lens hood for my camera. But I'm still a little confused on the whole thing with how they would fit. When looking for a lens hood to fit the add-on lens, what size do I look at in the specs. Do I look at the lens diameter, so I will know what size of lens hood to get?
I hope this question makes sense.

What camera do you have?
Are you talking about getting a wide angle and/or telephoto converter or a full-on lens?

Here's a good W/A lens:

As for hoods for you w/a lens, any of these (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?ci=0&shs=40.5mm+hood&sb=ps&pn=1&sq=desc&InitialSearch=yes&O=jsp%2Fproduct.jsp&A=search&Q=*&bhs=t&Go.x=0&Go.y=0&Go=submit) are fine, but if you want a rectangular hood, you have to do some digging around the web.

I just bought the stuff from B&H. I only buy stuff online when I know who and where it's coming from.
PadawanGeek,
I looked at all of the lens hoods on the link you provided and chose one. And for the lens, I was considering that lens.

Awesome! I'm sure you find that a W/A lens is a nice addition to your camera rig. I too just bought a lens hood for my new HV30 :D

I like how the cameras look much more professional with a lens hood.
