does anyone know how i could cover this up?

Get help from a vocal specialist. You can maybe find them at your school.

Get another actor?

if you use an audio equalizer and pull down some of the frequencies around 10KHz that should help, alternately have another actor redub it in post.

Yeah, there is only certain things that can be done. There's no "de-lisp" effect and you've pretty much kicked down all our suggestions. So you have to go with something or just let it fly.

im not tryin to shoot down all your suggestions, it's just that i cant do most of them for the purpose of the show. i may try to see how flaunting it like a trademark works out.
thats if i can't fix it.

I've just PMed you re: this.
I want to add that I can think of three people off the top of my head who are TV actors / presenters who have lisps.
I don't hink it needs to be a 'trademark' as such - if it's who you are and you're comfortable in your own skin then I'd give it a go. Actors and presenters have a whole range of distinguishing features, whether it's physical or oral...
PLUS it's worth noting that audio can sound very different 'on camera' to what you're used to hearing resonate through your own skull...
I'm looking forward to seeing the show. Just take your time, concentrate on the technical bits that need doing, and get excited about your subject... and remember, you don't have to distribute your stuff to the world... you can always sneak something out onto youtube on private and grab a few people to have a look as 'friends' - there's a facility for that.

For a cooking show the lisp is the LEAST of your worries... I know a show (it escapes me) where the woman who's cooking has the world's LARGEST HEAD (On camera at least).

I would just go with it, it may be able to be heard on the cam, but you could either just wait for people to mention it (if they do, it may be worse for you because you KNOW it's there so you know to listen for it), or just put on the first episode (in text or with speech), explaining that you have a lisp.
And if people are going to take the p*ss out of you because of a simple speech problem, then they're just pathetic and not worth it. Oh no, that guy has a lisp..... and? he's making a great (better be great now i said that :P) show.
The people that will remember you for your lisp will either a) admire that you did it even though you had your lisp, but you faced your problems and got over it, becoming comfortable with yourself, or b) are jealous because they like your show and they need something they can focus on, because they can't do what you can.
Rant over :) sorry

Just thought.... HUGE star in the UK - Jonathan Ross - can't say the letter 'R' ... He can't even say his own name properly!!! Does it stop him being one of the highest paid TV presenters in the UK ? Erm..... Nah! And he uses words with R in them... I mean, he has to announce his own show for Pete's sake!

a friend once said if you stick something small in on of your cheeks it reduces the lisp
he had a bad one and has voice classes for 2 years to get rid of it
they taught him the cheek method
could try that

i try not to let it get to me, but anytime i talk, "someone"
says something about it.
some say it's "cool"
and others make fun of it
but in a way the people who say it's cool are still bringing it up, making me feel bad.

I don't think that is lisp specific. I can't stand listening to my voice on tape recorders or answering machines.
I think it's because in our heads we all hear that voice (or in some cases, many voices...telling me to kill you all!!!) you know the inner voice that speaks clearly, without an accent, perfectly level tones etc. Then when we hear our external voice, it doesn't measure up.

this is just in reply to your comments here,
Iv been told many times by numerous people that i have a 'hot' sounding voice. ya....
Whats that mean? No idea.
I don't like hearing my voice, i sound mentaly handycapt.
but I just ignore it when i have to watch my movies, the worst thing is when your behind the camera.
but ya SweetTreat, its hard i know, but when people make fun of you, try and laugh, try to laugh at your self. There is a point when people cross the line and say things that are offensive.
I have troubles laughing at some things when its obviously not a joke.
if you adjust your EQ and be carfull how you say and what you say words. then you should have a problem
