How did your IndyMogul projects turn out?

If you made something from an IndyMogul episode, be it zombie make-up, a rain machine or just a giant sandwich, how did it turn out? (Apologies if there's already a topic like this)

I just set up a '$25 light kit' (cost me £16) as instructed by Steve Nelson in a weekend extra, and it works really well (thanks Steve)!

here's what you do. you make a movie with you playing you and some of your friends playing your parents. and have a girl playing your "girlfriend"

and in the plot you impregnate a girl. and have your "parents" start crying blah blah blah oh my god our little boy's life is ruined waaaah waaah waaah!.

and have your character say "you know mom and dad...this could have been avoided had you allowed me to buy prophylactics."

and if that doesn't work. just walk into a store and buy them. they can't deny them. (i think)

and how old are you, because if you're in high school, your high school should have them, and they HAVE to give you them. and they're free.

If you live in the South, or less Urban area, they most likely didn't. Usually only in more Urban highschool do they do that.

Otherwise, I THINK you can get Condoms for free from a Planned Parenthood, if you got one of those in the area.

Otherwise, I don't know of any laws against purchasing condoms if you're not "old enough".

They are just rubber balloons, I don't see what the big deal is.

Other than that, tiny Zip Lock bags can be substituted for Stab Wounds and stuff. It's just Condom's are what a LOT of SFX guys use for squibs.

although i prefer making the video and have your parents sit through the very uncomfortable "pregnancy" tv special that you've created. because that's just funny.

i don't live in an urban area...so i don't know why your schools wouldn't have free condoms in like health class and stuff, but go into a planned parenthood and grab handfuls. they're free and you can use them for whatever....

but please, make the video and make it with lots of awkward and uncomfortable moments (curb your enthusiasm, Clark and Michael, the office style) haha.

Water balloons work fine for the blood effect - me and a friend randomly decided to try making blood bags one day, and he happened to have some water balloons lying about, so we just used them.

Me and my friends over at Macevoy Productions made a duct tape dummy before Indy Mogul ever did a show about it!!! It actually works really well. We named our dummy JJ, and we hit him with a car at like 30 or 40 mph!

Yea the legs were the hardest part to do. We had two pairs of scissors, a tiny pair and a bigger, stronger pair. The small ones were great for getting to the really tight spots and opening them up so you can come in with the bigger pair. I also cut parts of the leg myself because I could tell when I was cutting too close to my skin. Wedging something in between myself and the dummy skin also helped a lot.

It takes a bit of time, but as long as you're patient, safe and precise...it shouldn't be too tough.

this isn't specifically IndyMogul related, but it's an old project done by myself and some friends many moons ago, back when we were in High School. I've since moved on to bigger and better things, but this clearly has the "IndyMogul spirit" despite having been made well before IndyMogul came into existence as we know it today...

the first time i didnt grease the pan
and th second time i tried to make a cup
so i poured some in a plastic cup but it melted a hole in the bottom of the cup

i have a question steve. when you where the clothes under, do you want to cut those too? or do you just cut through the duct tape?

In order to make it more effective, have the girlfriend played by a guy... especially if your parents are really conservative.

I made a dummy but didnt spray paint it, i made it by myself and only myself, stuffed it with the fiber glass stuff my dad buys, and ran out of duct tape: it wasnt too bad but the arms were too thin and the neck came off a couple days layter lol

My Fake Head turned out to be crap because I didn't use spray paint and liquid latex. My stunt dummy turned out real well because i filled it with cardboard with the newspaper.

It depends what kind of mouth your doing.

Edit: I suggest mouth 1 (gary) or mouth 2 (podge and rodge) because mouth 3 (avenue q)is a pain in the ass!

My blood shooter rigged worked out really well. I didn't use the exact parts Erik used but I made my own with what I had. Also my stunt dummy came out awesome. I actually found the top half really hard to get off as opposed to the top.

Hot glue will probably melt the latex and gorilla glue takes awhile to dry. Use super glue, it drys fast and actually gets the job done.
