i just saw this up on digg, and its made me a little unconformable.
http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2008-03-10-drugs-tap-water_N.htm
apparently, there is drugs in are water, like pain pills, and even sex hormones. when they cleaned up waste water, it didnt get the residue of drugs people were taking, so they stayed in the water. the stories from march, but it still makes me a little worried. the reason i think im still worried, is because its been happening for years, meaning, weve been drinking drugs for awhile. i mean, look at this.• Anti-epileptic and anti-anxiety medications were detected in a portion of the treated drinking water for 18.5 million people in Southern California.
• Researchers at the U.S. Geological Survey analyzed a Passaic Valley Water Commission drinking water treatment plant, which serves 850,000 people in Northern New Jersey, and found a metabolized angina medicine and the mood-stabilizing carbamazepine in drinking water.
• A sex hormone was detected in San Francisco's drinking water.
• The drinking water for Washington, D.C., and surrounding areas tested positive for six pharmaceuticals.
• Three medications, including an antibiotic, were found in drinking water supplied to Tucson.
and its not like itd just be in water drinks, right? if its contaminated, then itd be in sodas, juices, and milks? its a scary thought. why is no one as talkative about this as they should have been? i heard nothing about this on the news or anything. it seems like it should be important.

Is it just the water from the sink or are they doing that to bottled water to?
theres a heck of a lot more than that (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sucralose) in our water. Lots of things are far too tiny to be properly mass filtered by a typical sewage treatment system. On their own they arent exactly harmful, but in mass quantities mixed with lots of other similar substances, they pose a public health threat. Nothing is being done about it, ever, as public ignorance is the main culprit. In short, diet foods as well as fast foods cause much, much more harm than good. That stuff yer eatin aint nutrition.
One thing to keep in mind - everything in the known universe is soluble in water, given enough time.

maybe people shouldn't be taking so many drugs to begin with.

I don't know why people would unless it's like doctor prescribed. Jump off a building if you want "The rush". Besides you'll get the same side affect: Death

It's not people taking pills to get messed up that's the problem (although that is a problem, but a different one). It's the people who are taking them that have prescriptions that are ruining, not only their bodies, but OUR water.

the drugs their using, are not being caught when the water is being processed. not that so many people are doing the drugs. its a build up of drugs from years of use.
with today's nanotechnology, we should be able to come up with a better process of mass filtering.

I remember reading somewhere a few years ago that the amount of birth control hormones in the water has affected sperm count in males. It has dropped in average males by about 45% since the 1950's. So maybe in another 50 years it will be impossible to procreate. That's a scary thought.

I can no longer sit back and allow Communist infiltration, Communist indoctrination, Communist subversion, and the international Communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids.

Wow, that's really awesome. He's smarter than I though. It seems to me like he's trying to invent stuff to help a large amount of people. Like his work is for charity. You know, like he doesn't invent it because it's cool. It seems like he invents stuff for the sole purpose of helping people out. Well at least 2/3 of the inventions are. Segways are just fun.

Good post Arissa,
If you ever read the public water report we all get once a year from our local cities it's so scary..... I love that there's arsenic in tap water.... Yikes.
And let's not forget the wonder water additive FLUORIDE... great for your teeth right? WRONG!!!!!
Here's a few of the many benefits.... YUMMY FLUORIDE FOR KIDS!!! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_fluoridation#Opposition)
• A 2001 report by Dr. Roger Masters that linked elevated blood-lead levels with consumption of fluorosilicates (chemicals used in the fluoridation of drinking water).
• A lowering of IQ where drinking water fluoride levels were greater than 3 mg/L] which is within the limits of the standard set by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
• A disruption in endocrine function, especially in the thyroid.
