When doing a lightsaber scene at night how do you get your lightsaber to light your face like a the end of this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GpuEMSH6zB4&feature=related

Get a light and put a red (or whatever color your saber is) gel on it, and turn it on when the saber turns on. That's what it looks like they did.

Your other option is to use one of the Force FX lightsabers as long as you arent using it for a battle.

i'm sure you can do it in post... i just dont know how

basically, if i can do it to a picture in photoshop, i'm pretty sure you can do the same to a video on After Effects

but, i guess shining a light on the actor's face is simplier, just angle it right...

well just use the indymogul louresent light with some gel in front of it and also you could do in post just with a simple editing program

Reactive lighting is explained at a pretty high level in this Suite Effects video (http://www.digitaljuice.com/djtv/segment_detail.asp?sid=210&searchid=58766), although it doesn't go into any detail and can be summed up as: You do it in post. Like most effects, it's easy to do, but extremely hard and time consuming to master and make convincing.
