Would anyone know a way I can make dialogue sound muffled in Audacity, not so much telephone sounding, but more like they're in another room?

Depends on what kind of different room. Different rooms have different acoustics. I suppose you could just turn the sound level down when the person in the other room is talking.

Turning the sound down isn't as good as borderline Kenny-from-South-Park-type speech. I have a ton of Nyquist plugins and no idea how to use them.

You'll want to lower the sound level (volume) a bit, tweak the eq (audacity has a decent equalizer - take away from the higher frequencies and raise the lower ones for a start and then tweak everything, as it won't be super straight forward) and add a slight echo (just add it last and turn up the effect until it sounds right). It'll be alot of guess and check work if you've never done it before, but you should be able to get about what you want with a couple minutes of effort.

Thanks, it does take a little bit of getting used to, but I think I've got it.

Protip: They go in the "plug-in" folder.

Dude, you're like an fountain of info. I always see you chime in with some bad ass tip.
Video stuff, Computers, Audio, sm58's, drop the high's, bump the low's... Hell yeah! We're local, we should bust something out man. I'm a web designer out of Glendale, Burbank-ish area and work from my pad. Always down for a collaboration and because I freelance, all I have is spare time.
Outside of my web design skills here are my strengths in order: Playing guitar, bass not bad on a kit, writing, editing, audio capture, acting (not much of an adonis, but I'm fearless in front of the cam), directed and shot a few videos for friends bands. I have crappy vid gear but if we cooked up something good I'll rent a RED or whatever... my real name is Tony.
