I have been burning a 160mb video with menu to a DVD for almost 3 DAYS!!! I'm mad because it's still not done and that is a tiny file for a DVD.
I'm burning at 16x on an LG burner. Does my computer need more RAM? How do I fix it?!
Please help!

LOL 3 days. I think your DVD driver may be broken. Or your software sucks

I don't think it's broken. A while ago my friend's dad mentioned I need a lot of RAM to burn a DVD. I think have 512 mb of RAM on my computer. Do I need more?
I use Magix Movie Edit Pro 12.
Do you guys think I should stop burning it now and just take the disc out?

My Macbook has 2GB of SDRAM and it takes about a hour to burn a 15 minute film to a DVD so most likely the RAM is your problem.

^Wow!^ What computer do you have and RAM specifications and whatnot?
I just took it out of the burner and played it (even though the software didn't say it was done) and it worked perfectly. I think the software is just retarded.
And I'm not sure how long it took for the progress bar to get all the way up, cuz I left right after I started burning it for like 6 or 7 hours.

went i bought it, it only had 2 but i gave it to my friend who owns a computer shop and he upgraded everything
but i was on the hp site and it says the max is 2gb
so i not sure if that's what makes my laptop work good
its a hp pavilion dv9000, i can even run new games with no lag
so beats me
i still a "noob" to laptops

I use Magix Movie Edit Pro 12.
That could be your problem. I used to use a Magix software for music, but it would uninstall itself, lose it's own files, and take hours to burn a music CD. If I didn't use the software at least once a week, I would have to reinstall, even if the files were still there, and lose all my saves. Now, I don't trust Magix anymore.

In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king..
512MB RAM should be just fine. Cancel the burn and try again. It happens occasionally. It should take no more than an hour, even at the lowest speed.
Unless your original video is being transcoded to MPEG2 and the original was 160MB, rather than the finished MPEG2, in which case it should take longer, but no more than a few hours.

OK thanks everyone!
So what software would you recommend Sonny that has custom menus and everything?

I use DVD Architect by Sony. I like it a lot. I use Sony Vegas to render to MPEG2, then DVD Architect burns it without having to recode anything. Sony plays well with itself.
