Hey guys, I am in the search for a decent Matte box. The only thing it NEEDS to have is a 15mm rail mount, and be able to connect to a 58mm lens, oh and it needs to be 350 or cheaper. Besides that, Ill take anything. I have found two already but I am still trying to decide:

-I have heard that this matte box is kind of flimsy. But on the other hand, I am ordering indirails and an Indifocus, so it would be cool to have a full setup, but idk.

This looks good, I like some of the extra features like the 4:3 and the 16:9 pices, and the side flags/ barndoors.
So what do you guys have/use? I know a lot of you guys don't use matte boxes but I am sure at least a few of you do....right?

the second one is an indian knock off. I was at a time thinking about getting their steadicam knockoff. Go for it, but just don't expect much in customer service.

I'm looking for a quality matte box to go on my Sony V1U, but I'm confused regarding what will be compatible with my camera. The v1u's lens is 62mm but I guess a mattebox doesn't screw onto to it directly, so I'll be needing a step down ring for whatever size to 62mm. I pretty much know next to nothing in the area of Matte Boxes so I really need help here.
I found a sunshade on B&H for $70 that holds one filter, doesn't seem all that bad, but I want something quality that's gonna stand as a really a good investment.
I found this...

and this....

Am I looking at the right products? do they work with my v1u? Does anyone reccomend a particular matte box for my camera?

holds two filters.
Keep in mind, you'll probably need rails.

Don't worry about the thread size. Matte box's just need to have a bigger thread size than your camera and you're fine. Matte box's don't go directly on the camera they go on a rod support system and slip over the cameras lens.

thanks for teaching me! i really appreciate it!
After all the internet surfing I think that the indifocus mattebox and rail system that nooneimportant posted up is what I'm going to put my money on.
Follow up question...
where can I find filters for this matte box?
a uv filter is a must and....well what other type of filters should I get to start out?

That matte box is a piece of junk... It flops around and is very flimsy.

You can always make your own for cheap. I'll try to find you a link to a thread that teaches how to.

Five second search on Youtube.com.
Heres (http://www.coollights.biz/free-clbd4-barndoor-template-p-48.html) a template used for making DIY barn doors but with some plate steel and some tin snips you could get creative.

Hey guys!
I need a cheap Mattebox where i can also put filters in, i searched in the web and found alot of tutorials to build matteboxes but they were all without a filterholder, so i wanted to ask if anyone could help me with the mattebox.
Jared mentioned at the QandErik live that he could build one! That would be AWESOME!!!!!
