Hey guys, I understand that liquid latex can be used to create a variety of cool effects. I also know that the BFX videos give several cool effects that require liquid latex.

My question is could you all list or give some ideas for the various uses of liquid latex and how to perform the effects? What accessories would I need to go with it? What exactly is the core use of liquid latex?

also, isn't spirit gum just an adhesive to help put on fake beards and stuff like that?

This is kind of a loaded and confusing question. I think you're asking a lot. Liquid latex can be used for many things. I think the most common mistake is that it can be used for pretty much anything, sometimes you just need a higher grade material or something entirely different. Often I see other forum members replying to common make-up questions with " just slap some nose putty and latex and you'll be fine"

Latex is commonly used for prosthetics. It's also used in some cases as a sealant and as an adhesive. You can build on top of it with layers of other materials. I would just recommend just getting a small bottle and trying it out for yourself.

Sorry for the confusion.

I was just wanting to know the types of textures that could be created with Liquid Latex. I have some, I just don't know how to start out. I guess I'll just try some of the BFX stuff. I was just wanting kind of a list of some various creations it can make

What sort of solvents do you need to remove it? I can get a 16 oz. tub of latex for real cheap but I don't know what to use to dissolve it. And no one seems to like to reply to my posts!

You can just peel it off. But if you have any hair under it it'll hurt. Since it's latex it won't dissolve in water or anything. Just put some baby powder on the area that you're going to put latex on, so it peels off without pulling hairs.
