Lavalier Mic Range

What would be a decent range on a lavalier mic? I'm looking into purchasing a set soon. I've found some that are affordable, but the range is a little less than 100 feet. I'm not sure that would be quite sufficient, but then again I dont have a specific shot in mind that I need the mics for. I just want to have them just in case.

The best cheap lav is the ATR35S. I would use a digital recorder with it, because unless you spend a few hundred on a wireless system it is going to give you a lot of problems. If you can avoid going wireless, do it.
A lot of people also like the Sony ECM-44B which is about $160, then the Countryman (about $300+).
