Hello everyone!
This is the official thread for episode 4 (http://www.indymogul.com/bestshorts/episode/BSF_20081016)!
You can discuss the films and the episode itself here.
Feel free to ask the filmmakers any questions you might have and we'll try to get them in here to answer them.
Don't forget you can watch the films in their entirety here (http://indymogul.com/3rk).

That IS wierd. I even check my post history and it's gone from there. We even had the co-director of one of the films in here discussing his film and now that gone. So are my Bobby avatar and smiley:grumble:

Crap.

Well, this is what I get for being a rookie.

I was trying to merge the discussion of prison bake in the other thread into this main thread and somehow I deleted the main thread.

I'm really sorry guys, apparently it's irreversible. There was a lot of great feedback going on in this thread. If you guys can repost your thoughts, that'd be great.

Sorry about this.

I'm gonna try and get this discussion back on track:

Previously people were talking about Prison Bake and how the common criticism of the film is that it's "too long".
What do you guys think?

Also, someone asked if the filmmakers directed other films and the filmmaker himself replied that this was their first film.

Not too bad for a first film I must say!

Hi I'm still here... I co-directed the film and in the previous thread I was saying how we had under-estimated the ingredients section of the film. The actual actions of Fridge were much longer than we had anticipated. We actually had many more ingredients coming out of the Fridge but we cut it down to try and speed things up...

I asked that. So where can I see more?

Also, my comment on Prison Bake was: Too dragged, pretty amusing, awesome production value and ok acting.

Matt, I promise I will watch your short as soon as I get home. I want to see what everyone is talking about with the length.

I really liked 'Prison Bake'! It was a bit long in places (especially the 'fridge' bit), and the 30 degree rule was broken a few times, which was a bit distracting. But other than that, I thought it was great!

the 30 degree rule was broken a few times
Oh yeah, I asked: "what is that"

Didn't mind that rule being broken in this for some reason.

I'm really quite taken aback that my film was featured on the show. I have to apologise for the quality, it was from youtube (I was contacted about getting a higher quality version but sadly I have long since lost the original files). But yeah thanks Bobby I'm a huge supporter of the show and it's window of exposure for us struggling unknown film makers.

The idea for the way we filmed Prison Bake was that it was a cheap TV station so we tried to make the angles a bit off. We were also copying food programs that use a wobbly style camera to offer close ups of the food and action

Congrats Ross on getting your film in!

Prison Bake was a tad long, but mattdollings's explaination helps with me getting the feel of the movie. But I did laugh a few times, which is uncommon with web videos.

That's exactly what I was getting at Matt, but didn't articulate it. I think the aesthetic of the short is that it's a cheap TV station with multiple cameras set up, so the violation of the 30 degree rule seems to fit well.

I definitely got that feeling from prison bake and thought it was funny. The acting was great but the film seemed a tad bit dragged out. Very impressive for a first film.

I just finished watching Prison Bake. I know some people felt it was somewhat too long, but I just didn't see it. I thought the pacing was just fine. The camera cuts worked well to give it that public access feel. I even think this would actually work well as a series. Really delve deeper into the psychotic nature of the baker. And with it being a prison setting, it opens up the door for a ton of interesting characters to make a guest appearence. In the end, I'm sure glad I'm not Fridge.

I loved prison bake! The lead cook was brilliant, and his aggression was both believable and very unsettling. In good way of course. Long story short I laughed in all the right places.

I also checked out some of your other work on Vimeo.
The Metronomy video was very interesting.
I watched the video twice and that song is burned in my brain.

Kudos
