Is your firewire broken?
Do your heads need cleaning?
Are you reusing tapes?
What do you edit on?
What camera do you have?

What do you mean by "only when i import." You mean it looks fine when you play back on the camera, but when you import it, it drops frames? Then the problem probably does not lie with the camera. The problem lies with either the cable or your computer.

If your camera doesn't have a lens on it, it's be pretty hard to record anything but a mass of light (not unlike what Han Solo saw after being thawed from Carbonite.)
Anyway, make sure you are capturing via firewire, and that your computer has high enough specs to be able to handle video.

If those programs where chewing up enough CPU and memory to make your capture drop frames, it's problably time to upgrade anyway. But yes, that is possible it could help a bit. Remember that even though you appear to have no programs running, any OS still has dozens of background apps going.
On my friend's computer, the bottleneck was the hard-drive, and he needed to capture to a different hard-drive than the O.S. used for a swap-drive.

I had the same problem. I got an external drive and imported to that and the problem went away. I has to do with how fragmented your hard drive is.

It's Probably your connection to the computer, or something in the camera is causing this. I suggest maybe getting a new cable and if that doesn't work, maybe bring you camera in.
BTW, i recently came across this great website that offers a lot of info and advice. It might be able to help you! http://www.weegy.com/

I have this problem, I think it is because of my low processor and ram.
