Every Halloween, my family gets really into it, and we have the 'best house on the block' but this year we got a late start decorating. I love it, it's lots of fun, making various things, and scaring people, but each year we try new/better.

What I need.

Well this is an idea we've been toying with, but are actually going to do. We want to have a mist, with a projector shining through it projecting an image(s). I am borrowing a projector from school, and we got the mist and stuff to work right, now all we need is proper placement, but even more important, something to project. This is where I am stuck.

I have been browsing youtube, and the internet looking for film clips that I can edit together, that would be great to project into our fog to scare people. I would film something myself, if I had time, but don't. So, I need to do this fast, but don't know where to start.

I was thinking about have a swirly fog/mist/cloud at the beginning, with lightning occasionally, using it as a transition between clips. So first thing I can't find on my own is

-Good, swirling, cloud-like substance covering the whole frame, or most of it. I can edit it. I am a little rusty on stock footage finding, so finding stock footage of smoke and stuff is a challenge, and what I do find isn't thick enough. I was also contemplating the water+ink method, but can't find much along those lines. So, any suggestions of thick fog/smoke/cloud footage I can get would be great.

Second, of course, clips to use. Here I am lost. What to put? I don't want just clips from movies, I want it to be scary, and since I am not frightened easily, it is hard.

-So, clips, where I can get them, any suggestions would be great. Faces, full bodies, scenes, as long as it can be scary ;) I can tweak it as needed, colors aren't too important, as long as it isn't every color of the rainbow.

A better picture of our 'haunt'.
This year, we have the typical graveyard out front (location of the mist screen) with a hanged skeletal corpse, and just, you know, graveyardish. Inside the first room of our house, we are trying to set up a bar/tavern from the 40's-50's ( I think?) playing some good old Horace Heidt (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_r4Ixi4Uwt0)in the background. Bar, bartender (picture The Shining bartender), piano, the works. And here are some pics of last year that I found (a butcher shop)

Not that great of pics, not to mention it is normally darker than that, but we needed some light for photo's, but that is the general layout of our path. Hope that helps you guys help me out on this one ;)

Thanks in advance

well i think for film to be scary you need the right music,

if you are able to have speakers and you play some creepy sounds(think of movies you have scene) use it to bulid suspence.

this is the tralier of se7en listen to the sound track, it's faily simple yet effective.
