i'm kinda tired of rude/mean/cruel coments on youtube, so are there any lesser known host sites that i could put say an i'm a geek and tried to make this clip of me fighting invisible enimies look like its right out of 300 sort of clip and not get the normal "your a F@G!" comments ?!

vimeo
vimeo
vimeo

the preferred site for people making videos not depicting someone getting hit in the gnards and uploaded from their cellphone. a really supportive and creative community that know the difference between a critique and an insult and sticks to the former. plus, their player streams at twice the bitrate, making for higher quality playback over some of the other players. ask justin or steve or erik, it really is the platform for people that love filmmaking.

And not only that, vimeo's player conforms to multiple aspect ratios for those of the visually caring kind. Youtube's player is also a piece of poop.

great job, here's a tip to make it smoother:
consider zoom rates. if you zoom in slow right before the action and then jam to a quicker zoom rate, slowing the playback at the switch will make for a more fluid and consistent zoom. you'll need to choreograph it with your cameraman, but i think it might bring this effect to the next level for you. post a link if you try this out!
(and welcome to vimeo, you now don't have to worry about people that just bash their head against the keyboard and call it a comment)

alright well i'm really glad you said i have a camera man!! the camera was left on a chair and the zooms look robotic because i did them in post that way it lines up with the throws nice, i did have it set so it was constantly zooming in or out just a little like you said i should try but i ended up keeping it robotic, i just liked the impact. haha

EDIT : now that i look at it agian, it is constantly zooming, just a LITTLE TINY BIT

Blip.tv is good (but only if you are doing some kind of series of videos)
You can see an example of an embedded player here...
www.fireflametv.blogspot.com (http://www.fireflametv.blogspot.com)
It also resembles te indy mogul player too.

Haha, nicely done.

Yeah, we love Vimeo. We've got to start doing more Vimeo videos of the day. Does anyone here who is familiar with the community want to take that on?

I found ustream (http://www.ustream.tv/) was a really good site for that.

What about for longer movies? I have a film that I have ALMOST complete that is 45 minutes long. I know it will probably upload to Google Video, but the quality is terrible.

Or, better yet, does anyone know of a way to compress it really well, without losing video quality so I could upload it to vimeo?

anyone have a good site for hosting .swf files? ive been looking for a free media gallery sort of like photobucket where i can hold my flash objects. ive found a few sites that will store the swf, except it doesnt offer a direct link to whatever object (ive circumvented by viewing the page source and just copying the code with the host location).

but yeah, a place with a free swf gallery sort of like photobucket or imageshack would be tight.

TIA
