I have been in a production company (or group, if you will) with my friends for about 2 years now, and we have made a lot of short films. I'm thinking about leaving it, because i feel i don't get treated well, and that my ideas are just throw into the garbage.

Should i start my own company (group) or stay with PCG Entertainment?

note, if i choose to leave, i have no camera or microphone, but i will have a huge lighting kit, a couple of scripts that are ready for production, a dolly, and a steadicam

advice?

i would do it
just buy a camera later on
and write while you save up

Who says you need to leave?

Do the Neil Young thing and stay in the group and gain experience, while you pursue your own goals by yourself

well talk to them one by one
and get there input on your ideas
not to sound rude
but maybe your ideas are something they don't want to get involved with
alot of people have there own visions
if you explain them alittle better they probably understand

i have done that however, and they just don't ever want to make my ideas
they like to make movies in a day with no preparation or any plot or any point to the movie, unlike me who likes to write scripts and get crew members and be on a full movie set.
and when i try to have a movie started they say no, and decide to watch tv or go play videogames

Honestly? Don't let people hold you back. I say leave if you're not feeling accepted. Let them know that you're leaving and find some other people who are willing to give your scripts a chance. Everyone must be accepting.

Leave... you can't have people slowing you down.

You could learn to edit quick with windows movie maker on your computer, then buy a better program much later after you have learned the basics, you can get crappy cameras for like 100-200 bucks i have even seen some at 70 dollars, try getting different friends to make movies with and maybe they would respect you more later on and you can join the group back with respect. If you want to be a director i strongly suggest you leave their group, if you just want to be in the film making business, stay with them learn the basics of camera work and editing then leave them!

Yeah, these people are quite bad for you. WMM is a good basic editor, so you can get away with that, walmart sells the Canon ZR900 and 930 for $200, so just ask for a walmart giftcard for christmas. Not the best cameras around, but they are very nice starter models. Good sound and picture quality. While you're at it, grab an omni-directional mic and extension cord from the electronics deparment; also not the best quality, but it gets the mic away from the camera and nearer the actors.

WAX 2.0 is a free video editor and is supposed to be better than WMM. I haven't really used it all that much since I downloaded it, but there is no way in heaven or on earth that I could afford Premire Pro. An alternitive to free is Adobe Premire Elements, the stripped down version that retails for $99.

Automatically declare yourself producer and director and don't let those get away from you. Start your own movie group and have the meetings at locations of your choice. Try your house, your grandparent's house, or your local library's meeting room. Don't ever have it at one of your employee's house as it will give them leverage in the form of "Well, it's my house, so let's do this..." or "Here's my xbox, this meeting's getting boring, let's play!"

Never let your grasp on power slip, make it clear from the beginning that you are the boss. That being said, respect everyone's opinion and make them feel wanted and needed. Because you do need them.
