Aaaaaaaargh!

Last week I sliced the tip of my left index finger with a breadknife.
This afternoon I heated a cup of tea in my new microwave. When I grabbed hold of the handle, it was superheated and scolded the flesh on the index finger on my right hand.

I'm typing this with my little pinky finger - arrrghhhh My hand is in agony...

I've got insomnia anyway, so now I'll never sleep tonight...

...I know Arrissa will probably suggest that I (quite rightly) get a blog- but I just don't have the fingers for it right now. I need ideas as to how to make the pain go away... (and if anyone suggests a nice, calming cup of tea I'll whack 'em with whatever digits I have left... lol

I dunno, pain killers? Slap a plaster on it and it'll be reet.

Oooooooh no! Plasters... trust me... NOOOOOOOO!
The oral gel thing might work...
I'm currently using the painkiller that comes in a bottled form and goes well with ice, so I'd better not mix and match painkillers right now...

It's like grabbing hold of a burning scalpel end... need more ice (and not just in my drink ;))

I've had that happen to me with mugs before. Some of those just aren't good with microwaves. Now I put my drink in a measuring cup or something to heat it, then transfer it to the mug.

ow! that must have hurt!
about five years ago i stuck my finger in a car cigerette lighter when i thought i wasn't on, and the skin on my burnt finger was jammed between the super-hot coils.

Tumblr (http://www.tumblr.com) makes everything feel better.

Grey, I would get a tea kettle. I use one and I like that it keeps my mugs non-blazing. Plus it adds a nostalgic feel to my tea process.

Try filling up a large cup, mug, or bowl with water. Not cold, just cool. Insert ice cubes every now and then to keep it a little below room temp. Stick hand in. It works for me and is better than ice. Ice can really start to hurt after a while because it is so cold. This method is soothing and slightly numbing at the same time without causing any side effects. Don't leave your hand in too long, or your skin will get all wrinkly and feel weird when it dries.
Chilled Aloe also works. A cool gel packet might also aid you.
Uh...that's all I have. Except for not drinking tea. Try coffee. Or if you want to stay away from hot caffinated beverages, Red Bull, Monster, Amp, Bawls (tastes good!), and Java Monsters work too.

When my little brother burnt his thumb in the car's cigarette lighter, we used the cup of cold water method and let him watch "The Animal Alphabet". He felt a lot better afterwards. Of course I don't know if you want to watch "The Animal Alphabet".

Ah dude, I hate that. I sliced off the tip of my thumb with a bread knife about a year ago. I would just suggest keeping your injuries extremely clean, even if that means cleaning out the dirt with a toothpick. Believe me, it's better in the long run.

My Baba has used some old country magic on me that I think you would find useful.

Believe it or not, if you cut a potato in half, and stick it on your burn, the pain disappears.

Hehehehehehehe! LMAO...

Thanks for all the advice everyone...
I ended up adapting Arissa's tumblr advice - I held a tumbler of ice for five hours... worked a treat and the pain eventually went away. The advantage of the tumbler method ? I could fill the glass with drinks of my choice to help the time go more smoothly ;)
