I know how film cameras work, but what about harddrive cameras. How do they work?

Sensor captures light, turns that into an electrical signal, which is interpreted and converted into a data stream that can be then written digitally onto the source medium.

Harddrive cameras are not really functionally much different from any other digital camera.
