View Full Version : My laptops not reading disks or flash-drives

my laptop has recently stopped reading disks and my thumb drives, this is very important because my thumbdrive has footage that needs to be edited and no disk waht so ever is playing or being read in my laptop ..... help needed any ideas would be appreciated

what kind of laptop is it? have you recently reinstalled the operating system? This really sounds as though it is a problem with your drivers. Go to the manufacturer support page for your laptop and download the updated drivers and install them. Try this first and then go from there.

I one time had a virus that disabled my DVD drives so that I could not install any virus scanners. It also disabled my Control Panel. If you get an error, google it. That actually helped me out a lot.

Do you unplug your thumb drives without properly releasing them? If you just unplug thumb drives from your computer without clicking the "remove thumb drive" icon on your task bar then you can pull it out. If you don't to often your drives will stop working.
