How do you make a voice sound like its coming out of a walkie talkie or a telephone? I have final cut express any tips would help

I would mess around with some of the filters. I know there is a filter in Garage Band that sounds like a megaphone, but I haven't looked through them all.

Or just read this response ;) Phone signals are compacted so more can fit through the line (it's an electrical/analog thing). They do so by chopping off the highs and lows and keeping the bits of the voice that are mostly in the human range of hearing. (60-60K Hertz) They dig more deeply though to fit into the human voice range only which tends to be based around 300-3000 hertz, so if you start by putting on a low cut filter at 300hz and a high cut filter at 3kHz, you should just about get where they start, then tweak the low cut up and the high cut down to taste.
Play, learn how sound works on a physics level, that will help your audio engineering... Geek out hardcore, you'd be shocked what you can achieve with a little imagination!
