I am an Eagle Scout with three palms, and I am the lowest rank of OA, ordeal I guess. I don't like the OA though because it is corrupt.

I dislike BSA because they discriminate against gays which is illegal because their meetings are mostly on government funded property

I think I got close to Eagle level, but ended up dropping out when I was younger because there was never any meetings close to where I lived.

It's been over a decade, so i'm a bit fuzzy.

Eagle Scout is a big hassle to get so you'd remember getting to it (it's also a big deal in scouts and a perk on job applications so you could still be using the rank if you had reached it; as it's the top rank and I think the statistic is something around 5% of scouts actually reach Eagle). It takes a while to get, so if you dropped out when you were younger you probably made it upwards of Star or Life Scout.

Yea, looking at the ranks, I was star, I must have assumed that I was Eagle ranked because there was an Eagle on it.

As dispicable as their policies are, it's not illegal. I'm not aware of them losing a single court challenge. To add to which, Bush Jr. dismantled a lot of discrimination laws as they pertained to homosexuals.

As Fisherking stated, it's not illegal, but it's still bad enough for me not to associate with them. They've kicked out members that were found to be closet homosexuals. Despicable.

It's illegal only in troops that have meetings in government funded buildings like schools.

I'm in BSA, close to Eagle status, with just a few required merit badges to do. And I've never heard of this brotherhood thing, but it sounds like some weird fraternity.

I was a scout and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it. I lacked in advancement as I felt it was my duty as Patrol Leader to help my patrol members advance and did so at the sacrifice of my own advancement... I don't regret it.

I attended an ordeal bonfire once at crow wing scout reservation. It was a very surreal experience (the whole troop was blindfolded and marched through the woods to hide the location of the ceremony for one of our members who had undergone the ordeal that week). The OA has since held an almost mystical reverence for me.

Alot of my DIY mindset comes from having been a scout.

BSA ALL THE WAY.
And no it is not illegal. They have permits to be in those locations. It is the same as organizing a protest in a city park.

My troop has two openly homosexuals who also are troop treasurers and patrol leaders.

I am Order of the Arrow, Life Scout, and Senior Patrol Leader.

Edit:
Atheists are allowed in scouts. My Assistant Senior Patrol Leader is an Atheist

The OA is corrupt, basically you pay people so you can work. And it is filled with liars and hipocrites, and you don't even have to be a good scout to get in, it is just a popularity contest.

I am speaking from my own personal experiences, apparently my dad throughly enjoyed his stay in the OA.

I did the cinematography merit badge about 4 or 5 years ago at camp. It's fun because you basically learn about careers in the cinematography field and then you make a movie with a couple friends.

I am a first class scout 'cause I started really late. I was PL, ASPL, and SPL for my troop, I would have gotten my OA, but I was about 3 camping days too short to be elegible. Yeah, yeah, I know it's a vote from your troop that gets you in, but I know that I would have gotten it because after the voting everyone, and I mean pretty much every person in my troop, said they would have voted for me if I was elegible.
Then all the other scouts quit leaving three original members and were replaced by three sets of 11 year old twins. I lost interest cause the troop was too young for me, so I stopped going. I do miss it a little bit.

I was in it for two weeks (hadn't even gotten my uniform yet), then my troop leader died. If I could do it all over again, I'm not sure I would because of the organization's (no matter how these policies may differ at the troop level) tacit discrimination against atheists and gays. I'm not one of these people who pickets the head offices, it's an organization you have to pay for and they can do what they want, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. Although the idea of a Cinematography merit badge does sound pretty cool...

I'm a Life scout with 30 merit badges and I am a OA ordeal member. I am going to start my Eagle project in about a month and I never got my Brotherhood because i stepped on a lightbulb and got a piece of glass in my foot before the ordeal and had to sit at home and rest.

And I'm 14.

I was a first class scout and an OA nominee, disqualified for being 2 camping days short, uber-gay if you ask me, but themz t3h rulez. I was on a fast track too, Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, and finally Senior Patrol Leader. In one year. It was awesome, but I foretold our troop's trip down the metaphorical tubes and I couldn't take it anymore. I still kinda miss it though. I'll probably help out w/ my son's troop if I ever have kids.
