When people think of zombie films they think of horrific images and films such as "Dawn of the Dead" and the Romero films. I however think that the underrated Dan O' Bannon film is a classic, and would rather watch it over Romero any day. Who agrees with me? Regardless, what do you think of the film itself?

The 80's one where they try to cremate the body at the beginning, which in turn spreads zombie-ism?

Not a fan. I couldn't watch past the part where the zombie said, "Send more paramedics." It broke almost every zombie code there was.

I've always wanted to see the first, but I can't seem to get it on Region 2 DVD, and the Region 1 DVD is always really expensive wherever I look. I can get the second, as I've seen it in shops over here (rarely, but still in some shops), I think I'll just have to keep trying to get the first at some point.

I love Trash and the stereotyped rockers. With such great dialog as:

Trash: Do you ever fantasize...About being killed?

(Iforgethisname): Whoah, this place is creepy
Trash: I like it. It makes a statement

That movies is awesome, I didn't like the talking zombies but it was such a funny movie and part that you forget about it, I love how the zombies can't die. The first scene with the naked zombie was the best part of the movie!

and started the biggest debate of the night
i will sum it up
Subject A - Ahhh she is hot, i would do her
Subject B - you can't she is a zombie
Subject A - it be worth it...i would wear protection
Subject B - i don't think you could even lure her in with the pea knuckle brain you have
Subject A - good point....but i would still do her

i know it is not that funny
but when your down your 4th 6 pack

It has its place in the zombie canon, but most people just don't know it.

Go ask your mum right now what zombies eat. Go on, seriously. I bet she says "brrraaaaiiinnnnsss!"

And I still don't get why Baller hates it. It's not like there's some zombie rulebook. Bannon specifically made it with the intention of writing his own zombie-code, as he felt the Romero stuff, while good, shouldn't be enshrined as 'the zombie laws.'

I really, really love this movie. It's absolutely hilarious: "Send more Paramedics!"

But one part that has always kind of creeped me out, is when they tie a zombie down and interrogate it. Her responses like "I can feel my self ROT!" It just, disturbing, in the best way.

Love this movie, it's one of my favorite Zombie films. He did a great job with the film, I thought the Zombies were very scary (because they were more or less indestructible), and the ending was great.

Good movie, funny, scary, it does everything well.

Ditto. My favorite "punk" line:

"What do you this is a fuckin' COSTUME!? It's a WAY OF LIFE!"

Return of the Living Dead is so absurd, I love it. Dan O'Bannon has a really great odd/dark sense of humor that really shines through in every scene. And I love the soundtrack with The Damned, T.S.O.L., and The Cramps, among others.

(After putting the pick-axe through the naked zombies brain)

Frank: The brain.. The brain.

Burt: I hit the f**king brain..

Burt: I thought you said if we destroyed the brain, it'd die?

Frank: It worked in the movie!

Burt: Well, it ain't workin' now, Frank!

Freddy: You mean the movie lied?
