I recently saw a trailer for a fan film based on the game franchise "Metal Gear Solid" and it looked amazing. So I was just wondering what are the best fan films you've seen and recommend?

I saw a Batman one on Youtube, called Arkham Asylum. It was in Spanish and absolutely amazing, like Del Toro and Burton got fused together.

Oh, I think the movie Dkg prod. is talking about is Metal Gear Solid: Philanthropy
http://www.mgs-philanthropy.net/
Which looks amazing. I've been keeping track a bit of it for a while. A few months the guy said he was revamping it, and it would probably be a long movie (40 min?) or such.

A few really good fan films are
John Fiorealla's "Grayson"
Sandy Collora's "Batman Dead End" and "Worlds Finest"
Hank Braxtan's "Return of The Ghostbusters"
On youtube check out blinky500's channel. That dude does some pretty good fan films featuring a wide array of comic book and movie characters.

How could I forget Art of the Saber!?!? That one is really awesome too.
Another good fan film to watch is Ryan Vs Dorkman 2. Quite possibly the best lightsaber choreography I have ever seen in a fan film.

I met the cast and director of the MEGAMAN fanfilm at Magfest last week.
Got Eddie Lebron's card.
Gonna let me interview him.
He's awesome.
Also saw a sneak preview and got a special promotional DVD.
And these guys are great, too:

First off, I agree with HunnyBunchFilms. Blinky500's channels is chock full of fan films that are awesome, especially "Escape Big Trouble in New Jersey".
Not too long ago, there was a fan film company here in Florida known as Imperial Pictures. They're first fan film was a sequel to "Scream" called "Scream Louder" (which can be found on YouTube). But the one I happen to know about, the one I actually have a copy of is "Film Freak". Harking back to the classic horror movie "Fade to Black", "Film Freak" is about a woman who works at the Jacksonville Times-Union and trying to outrun her past because of her boyfriend, who was an avid film freak who killed her parents on Friday the 13th wearing a Jason Voorhees mask. Thinking he was in an insane asylum, the boyfriend breaks out wearing a Michael Myers costume and begins to head for her once again, killing and dressing up as various serial killers from films, including Freddy Krueger, Ghostface from "Scream" and Jason Voorhees. If you can find it, it's worth the watch.
The next one, one I actually contributed an idea to, is an "Evil Dead" fan film called "Return to the Woods". Sort of a remake of "Evil Dead", PhillipFilms' production provides a well done fan film that even has a prop that was done by Tom Sullivan, the man who did the props for "Evil Dead" (Tom himself makes a guest appearance). You can check out the page for it here (http://phillipsfilms.mrolaf.com/films/rttw/), though I don't know if the video is still available. BTW, what I contributed was the idea of the book spitting blood and vomiting as well (the spit didn't come off as I had pictured, but the vomit bit looked well, though we don't see the book really vomiting like I also had pictured).
The next one, though it's a French fan film, Marla: The Movie (http://www.marlathemovie.com/) is definitely one I like. This fan film is worthy of being called a "Fight Club" fan film. The mood and cinematography fits well. Acting is okay. I recommend it.
The next few are "Battlestar Galactica" fan films that I happen to like. I kinda wish there were more of these, but these videos were submissions for the Videomaker contest that Sci-Fi had for the new series not too long ago. If you're a BSG fan, I recommend them:
1. "Glory of God" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hki6m0bifg)- Set after Baltar's trial, Earth is discovered and Baltar has a reaction. I happen to like it because the filmmaker actually went back and reshot scenes from previous episodes for the opening "Previously on Battlestar Galactica". And the sets, though we don't see much of them, gives off the feeling like that of the show.
2. "By Your Command" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ga4CjUYwmE) - Taking place on Galactica, a repair team with one Marine begin getting picked off after the lights go out. I definitely like it, especially the set (again, it feels like its something that could be in the show). The endings nice, especially with a classic line being spoken it.
3. Battlestar Galactica Minimates (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-i3hb4-VAIc) - This animated video was done from someone at the DAVE School, a rap video featuring the BSG Minimate figures. I just love it.
4. The Ring (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xovnoK8cLfg) - This fan film is definitely a good dramatic piece, set during the Occupation of New Caprica.
5. Like Father... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBLe5DqPCv4) - A message from a Viper Pilot to the woman he loves and her son.
6. Hope and Sacrifice (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1sOMNAAy3Y) - Two friends during the second exodus of humanity, one decides to stay out of faith, one tries to get him to go.
7. Whatever It Takes (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ea-PpetRFNA) - This is actually more comedic, but the humans try to get off Caprica to inform Adama of the situation on the ground. You'll never look at an ice cream scoop the same way again.
8. Whatever It Takes - Extended Version (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeyjyp6hVT0) - An extended version of the above short.
9. "Steve Jobs is a Cylon" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C34IllU5FJY) - A comedic short about the downfall of illegal downloading onto a Apple computer. Beware of the iPod! And watch past the credits.
Next up, a "Star Wars" fan film called "The Injured Stormtrooper" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0L99Q5xiMA). I couldn't help but find this funny.
Another person whose work you should DEFINITELY watch on YouTube is RyanHorror. He's got some excellent fan films for "The Warriors", "Halloween" and parodies of "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight" (and he has a zombie movie inspired by Romero's "Night of the Living Dead" called "Day Nine", an excellent film). But the fan film that caught my attention was his short film adaptation of Richard Matheson's "I Am Legend". Check it out:
