Alright, so I've purchased a DCR-HC52, but then too late. I overlooked the fact that It doesn't haver mic input. So I now need to drag my comp when I shoot movies. Not only that, I also need to buy a mic. (Back to the drawing board.) What kind of mic is affordable, but good? Maybe one I can attack to a boom pole?

Get an external recorder, I'd suggest a Zoom H2 ($175) or an Olympus WS-311m ($60-80). You can mount the H2 directly to a boom pole, but it's not that directional.
You can get more directional audio from a shotgun mic which you have to plug in to the external recorder. A decent one in the $50 range is the Audio-Technica ATR-55. In the $100 dollar range is the Azden SGM-X. Above that is the Azden SGM-1X ($150) and a Rode Videomic ($150) and a Rode NTG-2 ($200-270).
Just remember, good audio doesn't come cheap.

How about like Flip quality audio? I like the audio on my flip, but I bricked it so I cannot use it. Would my logitech mic work? I'm afraid it might come too muffled.

Flip, maybe if you mod it for a mic jack. Logitech, most likely not. It is probably meant for close range (a few inches) audio.
You can just hide the recorder in your scene if you do not have the money for that and a mic too.
And also get a good pair of headphones to monitor the audio. The Sennheiser HD-202s get really good reviews for their price range at about $30.

Funny, I posted a thread earlier on a DIY Camcorder, the consensus was that I would modify my flip, though I never found the time to do it. Now, since my flip is already bricked, maybe I'll mod it into a mic. My problem is that the hc52 doesn't have a mic port.

Okay, this is what I would do.
First, mod mic jack and a headphone jack into the Flip, don't just use the Flip microphone.
Next, pick up an atr-55 or any other mic I suggested earlier.
Plug that mic into the Flip and start recording on your HC52 and Flip at the same time.
It won't matter if you record video on the Flip, you can just remove it in post.
Make sure to clap at the beginning of any recording so that you can use that audio peak in the levels to syncronize the video (from the hc52) to the audio (from the flip and mic).
Side note: If you can afford an XLR mic (SGM-1X, Rode NTG-2, etc.) you can try to add an XLR jack instead of a 3.5mm jack (ATR-55, SGM-1X, Videomic) into the Flip.

I don't know how you could go about doing that.

With your own bare hands, and a lot of passion. That fucking boom is going down.
