just that i on here way to long and i must understand sometime siting on a computer being a zombie to indy mogul forum is just alittle ridiculous
so i am moving on
i am not done with film-making
i just done with the forum
i gained tons of knowledge from you guys
and plan on using it
but with how my bills and medical stuff has been going on
i won't have time
i go in to the hospital for 30 days next month
then 2 weeks later to get my knees fixed
so today i resign from Indy mogul

Alasdair, if I'm getting the vibes right, is satirizing and pointing out things that many of you seem too frightened to say or just oblivious to.

I've not read everything he's said but for me, reading what he has to say (in between all the stuff that's been removed) it's just what I'm thinking. However, due to the fact that most of it's gone I can't quite see what the fuss is, although I imagine it's something like Alasdair mocking Vaughn and Ray and them getting all torn up about it.

I noticed this thread back in early January about Vaughn leaving, yet here he is, posting still. I find his posts a pain to read (perhaps the content is good but I have given up trying to read them) but that's not my gripe. He's an alright guy, I imagine, but he said he was leaving, didn't he?
In fact, didn't he say he was leaving at least twice before?

If I was Alasdair, at this point I'd be saying something that was essentially a ruder version of "shit or get off the potty". Did he say something like that? (seriously, the posts aren't there for me to see)

He makes me think of an old friend of mine, a guy who was constantly mildly aggressive, rude and destructive. Despite that, he was a really nice guy, far nicer and more genuine than the polite people I knew. I imagine many people didn't get that, although he had plenty of friends.

Perhaps Alasdair really is a troll, but his behaviour patterns don't look troll-like to me. I've spent plenty of time on forums and encountered all manner of personas.
I think the outrage is more due to the fact that it seems the majority of active users worship at Ray's feet and adore Vaughn unconditionally.

I am far more cynical but choose generally not to voice my opinion here. I don't care to get into any big arguments at the moment. I have the time, just not the motivation.

You know, outside of Chit-Chat Alasdair is not so bad (usually). It's only here in chit chat that he desides to be a troll.

I wish I could say that this is further proof that Chit-Chat is turning into /b/, however this would be wrong. If anything, it is more proof that Chit-Chat IS our /b/, has been since about two months after its creation, and is likely to continue to be that way in the future. Plenty of people come to the forum to have civlised discussions about politics, current events, movies, etc., but most just come here to wank off and talk about what ever they feel like. Alasdair is really no worse than any of them, he just happens to post...more.

So all of you, if you want to avoid trolling, and can't just ignore it, then stay out of Chit-Chat. Or, if it still bothers you, you can go become An Hero. It's up to you.

Well to be fair, Indy Mogul's episodes could be considered a hard PG or PG-13 sometimes and that's made by the people in charge and approved by their bosses, I assume.
Most forums are PG-13ish and MOST of the kids on here are mature enough to be able to filter out the good and bad in this place. Plus many of them see rated R movies with stuff much worse then what is posted by the baddest of the bad on here.
I don't agree with all the stuff that is posted by Alasdair, some of it is hilarious, some of it helpful, some of it totally unneeded. I also think that it would be best to just ignore him if you don't like him, and even if it doesn't change anything other members should be able to make the choice for themselves if they want to pay attention to his posts or not and even goes as far as blocking him. I think that should be their choice personally, it will help develop their maturity and decide who they want to communicate with. And since they're here, I imagine that they have an interest in film making or something to do with it and they should understand that it's not all rainbows and gumdrops.

If anything, it is more proof that Chit-Chat IS our /b/, has been since about two months after its creation, and is likely to continue to be that way in the future. Plenty of people come to the forum to have civlised discussions about politics, current events, movies, etc., but most just come here to wank off and talk about what ever they feel like. Alasdair is really no worse than any of them, he just happens to post...more.

So all of you, if you want to avoid trolling, and can't just ignore it, then stay out of Chit-Chat. Or, if it still bothers you, you can go become An Hero. It's up to you.

As a sensitive creative, I often have to take a deep breath and put some negative comments into perspective - heck, they may not even be negative comments... but my mind is what it is and I have to work hard on that...


Some other creative people may be 'insensitive' (that's the wrong wird but it'll have to serve for now) - they might have worked out that some things 'just need to be said'. Their strength lies in the fact that they are willing to step up and say controversial things for the sake of their art. With this daring, powerful mindset comes the risk that some may not be able to 'switch off'. There's a spate of incidents in the UK where feiry comedians have got in serious trouble with their employers cos they just... went... a ... little... bit ... tooooooo... far! ;)

So the challenge for you, if you feel like you're in this category, is to think ahead before saying something, performing something, creating something... You have to pick your fights wisely - and if you do, you'll be a tour de force...



And so, we find ourselves on a creative forum... where both the feiry and the sensitive discuss their work and begin to form community...

When communities are formed, people come closer and this will create incredible friction here between these two types of creative people.

In essence, some of us here think too much, reading too much into situations, while others of us do not think enough before posting....

It's the flipside of the gift that brings many of us here... and we've got to deal with it and each other.

Being an artist is more than just making stuff - it's about living with yourself and each other.... and from my own experience it's a very very rocky road...

These are only the rules for /b/. They do not apply everywhere... just /b/.

I find that they apply elsewhere. I'm not saying all of them apply everywhere. The few that I pointed out have just been becoming issues here.

8. There are rules set down by NNN for this forum, but otherwise users are free to post what they like. Not a bad thing, but some don't agree with this (and I understand the difference between nonsense and a constructive post). Either way, if you don't like what others say ignore it, just as many others have suggested.

11 and 12. People have been fighting quite a bit recently but many of the arguments posted seem to have fallen under one of these two rules. I'm not saying that anyone is wrong in what they say, but arguing over something as mundane as trolling just seems like a waste of time.

14, 19, and 20. These fit together with the trolling argument. Just leave them alone. It's the Internet. If you build it, they will come. Fighting them is like fighting leukemia: no matter what you do, no matter how many times you think you've gotten rid of it, it keeps coming back.

I'm just saying that, before you leave permanently, come up with a good reason.

Which would be great, except for the fact that he's been spamming that piece of shit for months. He's created fake accounts to bump his Rock 'em Dead thread. He's created multiple threads for tiny news or no news at all, and had them mercifully merged with the original thread.

Is it terrible? No. It looks like what it is: A bunch of young kids trying to make a short film with real-lighting equipment and so forth. Early days. Still learning. I think I was pretty kind to him, starting off, but started to sour very quickly when it became clear what an obnoxious self-promoter and egotist this kid was, disproportionate to any talent or ability.

The last reply to the last thread you made about your Test Reel was positive, so I am kind of confused where you're seeing all of the "hate" towards your work.

You're young, and if you can't take people ragging or hating on your work, then just don't do it. Otherwise, work on getting your skin a bit thicker, take a break from here, and if people are actually harassing you about your work, report it.

Otherwise, it's just needless drama, and won't end well.
