Anyone else a comic fan? I've read V for Vendetta, Watchmen and Swamp Thing by Alan Moore, along with Ronin, 300 and Sin City by Frank Miller. I prefer Moore to Miller though, I have to say. More meaning to his work, especially Watchmen.

I'm a big fan of Doug TenNapel's work. Creature Tech is probably one of the best Graphic Novels i've ever read.
And no, it has nothing to do with the fact that I know him, and can eat my head if I don't buy his Graphic Novels. (He's a huge Frankenstein monster of a man.)

I dug Watchmen, I also like Y: The Last Man... oooh and 30 days of night is kinda cool too. I also really love the Sin City books, "Hell and Back" is my favorite. What else... Neil Gaiman is good, Steve Niles as well, Alan Moore is a genius, etc.

I really like EarthBoy Jacobus and The Tommy Rex one. His art reminds me of Calvin and Hobbes.
(Jacobus is named after Arminious Jacobus, the one who came up with Palaganism but it's more commonly known as Armininism or semi-palaganism, a form of christianity.)

i was going to read V for Vendetta, but the art is so distracting. the picture in the comic is important, but it's like water colors. therefore, i never read it.
i read watchmen, it was very good. i read a couple of the sin city books, then i got bored with them. 300 was really good.
i read both the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, probably my favorite

V for Vendetta was amazing. It was the first GN by Alan Moore that I read and it is my favorite. So well done. The movie was a piece of shit and the Wachkowskis deserve to be lynched my a mob for how they butchered it.

I don't classify manga as graphic novels, more as horrible pieces of imported shit that have flooded the market and ruined the originality of comics.

I have read Watchmen (who hasnt, its brilliant) and recently read A Face Full Of Violence (not worth reading), I dont get to buy them often though, the nearest shop that sells them is in Manchester which is miles away.

I enjoyed the movie and wouldn't have read the comic or even heard of it if I hadn't seen the movie.
Obviously the comic book to movie transition isn't seemless, but wishing for the lynching of the directors is slightly extreme don't you think?

I have and I enjoyed it but I'm talking about most of what's out there now, such as Naruto and all that shit. It always seems like the same premise, different characters. I probably hate the anime shows more than the manga but still I'm not that big on manga.

I actually think he is somewhat of a good actor, he was excellent in Raising Arizona. If he was only more careful in what roles he picked for himself.

Only in one place do I agree with you, and that's Naruto SUCKS! But generally, I think Manga and Anime are both fairly good, but there is some manga I avoid.

The Slavers from Ennis' Punisher run, I love the Punisher and what Ennis did with the character was amazing, he gave it real grit and power (sorely missing from the films). I'd love one day someone to make this into a film (coz really it should not be that hard) that is actually effective.
Also check out the Civil War series and The Dark Knight Returns. Oh and everyone should read Kick-Ass by Millar, they are only on part five but it is awesome.

That's my Top 3 in no particular order, simply because it's hard to compare and contrast them.

Yeah, Maus is really interesting. It portrays the Jews as mice and the Nazi Germans as Cats (You can guess why), Polish as Pigs, Soviets as Bears, Americans as dogs and Frenchmen as frogs. (Ya, its an Animal Portrayal)

So...Tintin is a graphic novel series? Okay I'm fine with that. :)

Watchmen... No contest for me.
As for comic, I'm not sure. (i'm assuming that you mean an individual comic, and not a series).
But I can name off my favorite comic book character. "Deadpool". There's ust something about a smart ass merc, that makes him the perfect comic book character. Pluss he uses two swords, which is cool by itself, and something that I've been practicing for years.

So yeah, I noticed we didn't have a thread about graphic novels.

The Comic Book Thread: AKA, EdDaveStudios brags about having Batman And Robin #1 - surely this can't be a first edition? Sounds pretty impressive!
I've always been a fan of comic books, but never had any idea where to seriously start with them. There always seems to be so much backstory that I'm simply unfamiliar of. Probably why I'm such a fan of Graphic Novels, comics (usually) confined to a single book.

OH, I just started reading The Walking Dead. (I got through the first 3 volumes in one sitting...and I couple gallons of Kool-Aid). I love it so far. My friend's got me into zombie books (after I fell in love with zombie movies) and I saw The Walking Dead at my local retailer and had to have it.
I usually don't BUY graphic novels or comics because I polish 'em off too fast to be worth the money. But watchmen was worth it because it's only 20 bucks. I'm gonna have get the compedium of Walking dead to save literally a couple hundred bucks.
