Yeah im currently building a Computer
My friend hooked me up with the top of the line NVIDIA Quadro (Ultra Highend) Ok done Bragging
anyways im now decidng weather i should go for 16GB of DDR2 RAM or 4GB DDR3 RAM
I really want to have the fastest for the least ammount The DDR2 will be cheaper.
DDR 3 is faster, and you need a 64bit operating system to use anything over 4gb, and 64bit are bitch compatibility wise.

So DD3 is even faster when its 12GB less then DDR2?
Yeah i know i need 64bit
yes DDR3 has a faster bus speed and lower latency than DDR2, but you need to check the specific specs of the RAM your looking at, to judge the speed to capacity trade off.
if your happy using a 64bit os then i'd probably go with the ddr2, but again if the ddr2 is bargain bucket and ddr3 is high end i'd go with the ddr3.
my suggestion look at the software you want to run and see what it runs best on.

Also note:
Besides 64-bit OS, you can get a copy of:
Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server
Microsoft Windows 2003 Enterprise Server
And once the /PAE switch is engaged, you can address up to 8 GB (2kAS) or 16 GB of memory(2003ES). You can also use the datacenter versions, though they are hideously expensive though they can use 64GB(2k) and 128GB(2003). I've had Advance Server 2000 for a long time. The upside is 2k is more stable, the downside is not all editing suites are compatible.
