I'm working on this school project. And I wanted to add some cool effects to it. I tried using the render queue option to save the video but when I play it it seems to lag. Does anyone know why?

Thats probably to do with the crompression settings. If you render it out uncompressed you can end up with enormous files that your video player can't handle. I recommend downloading xvid (http://www.xvidmovies.com/codec/). Its keeps great quality but renders out pretty small .avi files.

If you plan on putting the rendered out file into a Video editor, just use the uncompressed video and when you export out the final product it sould be fine (assuming you compress that).

When you render it as lossless in the render queue it renders it in the highest quality you can get. That means that it is probably a big file size and your computers harddrive is too slow to play it. I had this problem but I recently upgraded to a 7200 RPM harddrive and now all of my video play without lagging now.
You basically have two options.
1. Render your video without using lossless. It won't be as good quality but it'll actually play. You can do this also just by clicking export rather than "make movie".
2. Or you can upgrade your harddrive so it's faster. That gets expensive though.

I know that this is the problem because I did the same thing last weekend. I upgraded my HDD and now it's fine.
