Hey everyone,

I'm an Australian school student who's looking to do film making at university. Iv'e completed 2 years of Film & TV at school and have produced some fair films in this time. My two best films being a Western and a drama with a french new wave influence. During this time iv'e worked with top model Canon cameras that take miniDv tapes and Final Cut Express on a Mac. Now that im leaving school, i want to continue making films but i lack all of the equipment iv'e become used to. I'm hoping to continue using apple editing products purely because im so used to them so my question is what Mac should i be investing in to have a program like final cut express on it? For cameras to buy, im looking to get something simple like a Canon MD120, is this a worthwhile one to get?

Thank you all:)

You can run FCE on any mac but you would be best off with a Mac Pro, or an iMac. Get a decent processor, a sizeable harddrive, and lots of RAM.

Also, the Canon MD120 is a good camera, but i think that if you're really serious about film you should go with a three chip camera, because they produce a much sharper image with more vibrant colors.

The first is a nice basic camera thats good to start off with, and the second is more advanced.

ALSO a good alternative to one of these is the canon hv20. It shoots in HD and it has 24p for a film type look.
