HELP 4 NEWB

Hi

I'm a newb at mogul forums and I would like to kow the editing tool for most of the special effects like lazer beams and blood splatters.
Do I have to buy the wallet-murdering photoshop CS4 or can I use something else???

Of course you can use something else!

There are alot of decent editing software programs out there that are cheap and user friendly. A great start is debugmode's Wax 2.0 Its a powerful piece of kit for free ware. If you willing you splurge a little I suggest Sony Vegas, Only because its the only software I use until I get my Mac :D

Although I'm sure others would recommend:

Final Cut Pro [Or express]
Adobe Premiere
Adobe After effects

If you are looking for something specifically for effects then Adobe after effects is sort of the photoshop for video. There are cheaper alternatives. Fxhome is less powerful but cheaper and jahshaka is free but apparently has a very steep learning curve.

I havent used fxhome or jahshaka but I can vouch that After effects is amazing!
