I saw a youtube video about making bineural microphones. the effect achieved by this sounds like you're actually there if you're listning on headphones. so my idea is to make a set of mics that work with a camera and mount them 7 inches apart ether side of the camera and take steady cam footage useing sound at the camera to give a first person prespective that won't be matched.
less of an effect request more of a test request. my camcorder is broken so i can't test it myself.

This is usually known as "Stereo" audio.

Actually stereo is different again. Stereo is simply a left to right field with 180degrees of space. Binaural has 360degree but in effect creates a little room of space allowing for seperation vertically as well as horizontally. If you want to do binaural right you usually record with a "dummy" head that has two mics, one in each ear. Binaural allows you to percieve sound above, around and behind you. It usually only works with headphones but some people claim to have systems that use loudspeakers effectively. I don't usually find them convincing.
Personally I wouldn't use binaural for a film unless it was going to be an installation in an art gallery. I think it's better to keep films simple if you want people appreciate it easier.
Binaural doesnt translate well to mono conversion so playback on some damaged headphones or poorly set up systems could lead to a less than stellar reproduction.
