I'm getting new equipment (HELP)

I'm not looking for something professional. I'm just looking for something that I can be happy with for the next few years and something that I can use on serious short films perhaps some films I'll send into film festivals. I'm definitely getting a shotgun mic to put on a boom pole, and I'm thinking about getting some lenses for it. I was thinking about getting an hv 30 but it kind of expensive and I'm not sure that I'll be happy enough with it that I won't want to sell it within the next few years.

So please can I have some recommendations on some good cameras and what mic and lenses you would recommend to go with it?

If you want to be happy with your equipment for at least a few years, then you need HD. I'd recommend the HV30, but really any camera from the "Vixia" series would do just fine.

Other than just little snap or screw on things there aren't many lenses you can get. Some wide angle ones but nothing fancy. Unless you spend quite a bit of money for a 35mm adapter.

i agree.
35 mm adapters are at least as expensive as the camera itself.
but you could also get a DIY one
