Atr-55 problems...

Hi guys, I bought an Atr-55 back at christmas, but couldn't use it over the winter much. However today I found out that it only has a reach of 1-2 feet. Is this really it? Or am I missing something? This mike's been reccomended a lot, but is it only for voice recording? Any suggestions would help.

Really? Mine reaches way further.... stupid question...is it turned on with a fresh battery?

Have you tried tele mode?

Yeah, I put in a fresh battery and tried tele mode.

I mean, how loud do you have to speak?...because I went 5 feet away with a normal-level voice and it couldn't pick it up.

It's not a very sensitive microphone. It's a cheap consumer level device, and your gonna get what you pay for.

If your plugging it into a computer, though, that can also have some issues. Make sure you are going into a "microphone" port and not a "line in." Or run it through a preamp.

nah, I think I've somewhat fixed it...it wasn't working, but all the sudden in started again...it maybe glitchy from being in storage for a few months
