Can you post some examples of your videos?

Does your camera have a quality settings adjustment, or any manual settings?

That camera is not the strongest in the world, so I need to know exactly what you're doing to it and why you don't like the output.

Lighting, shutter speed, and white balance can affect the look of the video.

I'm not sure what camera that is, but you probably have to adjust your focus.

If it isn't a problem with the camera, you might be using a not so good compression codec. (when you export)

His camera is a zi6 not a zip6. It is marketed as a direct to youtube type handheld mini camera. From what I can tell, the default setting is 30fps at 720P. This is probably what is causing you some grief. Try changing that setting to 60fps at 720P and it will probably greatly enhance the quality.

If you do not already have an SD card to store video, you are going to have to get one. You can only store 36 seconds of video at the higher res settings on the onboard memory.

There is also an option to go to HD mode. You may want to try this out.

Apparently the camera does not perform well in low light.

Without retyping everything, go to this article, it is a good review:

Most mini HD camera's will not work well in low lighting, try increasing the light in your shots, that's how i got my camera to have better quality, hopefully it will work with yours.

I was going to suggest increasing the lighting in any situation, as well, and trying to keep the camera still. See if that improves your results, and if not... on to phase 2...

Sacman, why would he want to shoot his films at 60fps? Youtube videos are played at 30fps, so if he were to shoot in 60fps, his whole film would be in slow motion.

I have a Zi6. There is really no way to focus it. It's not the greatest for nighttime shots or low-light shots. Are you shooting in 60fps? I find that to be pretty good for any type of shooting.

It wouldn't be in slow motion. 60fps is 60 frames per second so it takes twice as many frames as 30 fps. This means that more of the movement is recorded. However, they are still the same length of time because both the 60 frames and the 30 frames are contained within a second.

No, thats not how video works. You can record frames at whatever rate your camera allows, but unless your target medium supports the same frame rate, it will not play at the proper speed, or even at all. Youtube does NOT support 60fps playback, so their is no way for you to play 60fps footage at proper speed. Not to mention editing, but since its a "straight to youtube" cam, i won't go there.

Yeah, Dylan's right. If you shoot at 60fps, and your taget medium only supports 30 (Youtube), it would be slow motion. You are playing your 60 frames each second at only 30 frames per second, so it takes double the time to play.

Oh, I thought you meant just the actual raw footage would be slow motion. I was also under the impression he would edit it and the output video file would be 30fps. My bad.
