Help Plz!!!!!

I have final cut express and when i got it and double clicked on the canvas, its viewer popped up so i could crop and key it! but its not working! can anyone tell me why!?!?!?!? plzzz help!!!!

Select the Crop tool or press Command C. to key use the chroma key effect in the effects tab.
