Some extremely hefty post work by someone talented, or, the alternative, don't open your mouth.

how can you hide braces in movies?

Well there are a few options. The first is to have a person not open their mouth excessively, and simply don't focus in on their mouth.

The second would be to cover it physically, I think some good options would be White Food Coloring. Also, toothpaste, white frosting, or baking soda might work.

Just stuff that is non-toxic and can be washed off after the scene.

Other than that you could cover it with fake teeth.

Unfortunately most fake teeth are really big, or goofy looking, so it would most likely be hard to find something that wouldn't look comical.

The final option which would be the most difficult would be to go in, in post and digitally remove the bracing frame by frame. And depending on how many scenes you're going to shoot with seeing the braces, it could take a LOT of time.

say what now?

There are liquid dyes, powders and pastes. It's food coloring that is solid white in color like milk.

It's non-toxic and can be used in your mouth without really having to worry about it, unlike something like white paint.

Thats what i was thinking. In NorthGuard, one of my actors (ok two) are wearing braces. With some creative angles, you don't even see them.

Yeah, I'm curious as to the reason this is somehow important enough to do this extra work, but not worth getting someone who doesn't have braces to play the part.

Is it a plot-point? Does someone sneak in while he's sleeping and steal his braces? Does someone sneak in while he's sleeping and give him braces?

Or is your actor just self-conscious about it? Or are you concerned people won't take your kids with guns seriously if they have braces?

Angles that you don't see the braces.

There's an old portrait photog's trick...white tissue just sort of laid over the front teeth - was used to even out crooked or dingy teeth in a pinch, but might work for covering braces. Would have to be redone repeatedly since speaking would tend to dislodge and/or tear it.
