If ur getting vegas, the only choise is Pro. otherwise it is waisted money actually. Example. when u go on youtube and watch Tutorials, u'll get dissapointed when u get to know that u can't mask without Pro version. I might not know what it is yet, as u havn't done it before. But i swear, YOU WILL GET SUPRIZED.

I have sony vegas home studio. I like it . I have a video I made for a Nesquik contest on my youtube page... and yes you can do "green screen " with it.

Get a trial and see if you like it. I did, but obviously I wish I had the Pro version.

No, I don't think so. I really like Vegas too. I've got Vegas 8 Pro. I'm trying to learn Avid, though, but it's confusing when you start out.

ive tried avid, and its the hardest software ive ever used.

I have Vegas Home Studio. I don't really see a reason to have Pro, mainly because I don't see what's in it that makes it so special.

EDIT: I don't know what kind of camcorder you have, but it's mostly only worth the extra money if you have an HD camcorder. You can get 5.1 surround out of it too, plus that brushing tool (idk what it does, but it's pushed by Sony a lot).

i want masking, because all of my movie ideas include scenes that need masking.

Check E-Bay or some other place for a used copy because its really good. Its what I now use exclusively.

The chromakey is pretty good. I haven't really used it much in other editors to compare, though.

At any rate, if you can find a cheap copy then don't delay in picking it up. I'm still using v6 and I love it.
