anyone else on this forum with me in saying i don't get why so many people are so fond of blood and gore? what the world come to? i don't get what's so fun about violence. action doesn't need gore you know?

oh and this has been posted during Mogulween i know. this month the blood and gore is fair enough, but why the hell throughout the year? i've noticed at least 3 episodes on bullet wounds. how many times? they're always similar, and the improvisations are not essential. if needed there can be a blog post.

anyone with me on this? or am i the lone peacemaker?

Blood and gore are awesome! You can watch your hippy rainbow-unicorn films if you want, but I just love old-school action films with lots o shooting.

I like Action and Horror, but i think that often time blood and gore is unnecessary. I cannot stand Gore Porn.

despite my screen name, I'm not one of those 24 hour "kill, kill, kill!" when it comes to movies, But I like it because I know it's not real, also if done right, it scares me, and I like to be scared. I've delt with blood, gore and violence in real life, both animal and human, having big game hunters in my family. not really all that cool, or fun at all. I'll pick a psychological horror over a gorefest. but I'll watch one occasionally just for fun, I guess.

alot of violence in other movies is just a reflection of real life.

do explosions count as violence? because I love a good explosion. lol! I guess it counts in this context if there's some blood and guts in that explosion. HAHA!

I would say me neither, but I don't think I've ever watched one. I've never seen any of the hostle movies, I guess Saw is one, but I only saw the first one, and the last half of the 2nd one on T.V.

As you prolly guessed, my last post was a joke (well, sorta).

I like blood and gore in films, but I don't like film-series that depend on it (Saw), that's just sad. But blood can mean other things than horror too. If I like to see a good film with lots of blood, I turn to John Woo. He simply amazes me with his directing style.

sometimes gore can be funny if done in a over the top, or way to dramatic way. some people call that having a dark sense of humor or a warped mind, fortunatly I only have the former.

i like gore when used properly, like when creating a more realistic or dramatic war film, it just wouldnt have the same impact if everyone just fell over or held their chest.

or when used in a more, (artistic?) way, such as in Quentin Tarantino movies, but it usually has to have a good story to go with it, gore around the story rather than story around the gore

the only exception is zombie films, (theyre just not the same without it, lol) or if im making the film myself, just because doing a special effects heavy film is more fun that other films, IMO

that reminded me of a point my sister made about the whole torture porn thing. she said that the way people like blood, gore, violence etc. in movies is almost ( if not exactly) the same as it relates to the sex in regular porn. some people like to have a coherent story to put what's going on into context, and some people just what as much of it as possible, screw having a plot.

Blood and gore effects are more-or-less entirely what people want. Add to that they tend to be the easiest to pull off and it's not surprising IM does a lot of it.

Action films and gorefest flicks are awesome. I've never liked the whole realistic violence thing, because I think that's not entertaining. I do enjoy a classic shoot 'em up action film or a zombie flick like Braindead, though.
