Hey everyone,

I just got hired to be a gaffer for a student film.

I just wanted to ask everyone what equipment I need to be a gaffer.

I have a basic understanding of lighting and electronics, I have a few rolls of gaffers tape, various tools, and some rolls of caution tape (for safety).

I'm pretty sure they have lights. Any ideas?

If you're hanging lights from a grid, safety chains. Sandbags for stands. Make sure you keep all the cables nice and neat, 90 degree angles, and along walls.

Gloves are a must. A bandana can come in handy, I usually just keep one in my pocket. Blackwrap is good. Clothespins (get fancy and call em C-47s).

Oh got it. That seems like a useful piece of equipment. I'll invest in a bit of that.

Thanks everyone.
