WesScog

Wait, no Halloween in Australia? What blasphemy is this? You guys need to just start celebrating Halloween, it's the best holiday ever.

The only way Halloween could be made better is if Fireworks were sold on Halloween, but like Halloween themed ones, with orange sparks, and exploding skull bottle rockets, etc.

And... I thought you had high speed post-apocalyptic themed gangs? And Mel Gibsons? And... Neo-Nazi Russel Crowe's.

That sounds like a pretty fun place to me. Or exceedingly dangerous, whatever comes first.

But yea, just read about Halloween in Australia, they see it as accepting "Senseless and Commercial Americanisms", Wow, harsh. http://members.ozemail.com.au/~natinfo@ozemail.com.au/american.htm

Someone need's to inform him that Reality shows are British, and Halloween is Irish. :)

Oh well, we'll still celebrate it.

That sucks. But hey, you guys have January 26th, don't know if anything cool happens on that day, but from now on, i'll make sure to make myself Vegemite sandwich's, and play "Waltzing Matilda" really loudly for my neighbors to hear, on a loop.

If it's any consolation, i'm one of the only Yank's I know that enjoys Vegemite, so i'll make a little sandwich tray and make lots of people try it, or something.

But yea, wouldn't orange fireworks be awesome?

But most of the places with Free Healthcare don't have...

Ricardodude

I'm from Gold Coast, Australia and around here some people do halloween trick or treating but you have to go to a "halloween area". When I used to do trick or treat I used to go down the nearby "expensive" street.

Firstly, we have orange fireworks. Not as popular people normally set the blue and red ones off in their yards.

As for Jan the 26th, it also happens to be my birthday, so while you're playing "Waltzing Matilda" and slowly killing yourself with Vegemite have some cake for me. ;)

We actually managed to get our old neighbourhood right into Halloween, our street even got feature on the news back in '94. But where we live know, people are more reserved. And kids miss out for it.

I just imagined that the place so close to where Dracula is supposed to haunt would have Halloween.

Or maybe you're all so sick of Dracula stinking up the place with his supernatural crap that you get sick of it and don't want to give it a holiday since it happens all the time.

Well how many Irish people do you have in Eastern Europe?

I know all of the countries that celebrate Halloween, either had tons of Irish immigrants (America) or were occupied by nations that had tons of Irish immigrants (Japan).

Or were former British colonies, or were former Spanish colonies, so they have the Day of the Dead which is kind of like Halloween.

Like what's the environment like, what are the people like, how would you react to roving bands of Vampires, etc.

bridboyross
10-16-2007, 01:55 PM
Usually it depends when you are setting it. The south of England can get fairly warm in the summer though I'd probably try and set it as cold and wet as this is normally the usual climate and many people across the globe will associate an English town with such weather (thus making it easier for an audience to accept.) The people are usually quite forthcoming as they are fairly large places (Hastings and Dover) and as they are close to the ferry ports (Dover especially) there is a wide array of people and nationalities there. When it comes to vampires I imagine people would probably do the same as most. Panic. They Would probably try and flee and many would be eaten. I also imagine that a great number would attempt to cross the channel via the channel tunnel, the eurostar and the ferry. If you dont put these things in your story it may detract form the realism. Dover will be especially hard to mimic as it is situated on some bloody large white cliffs whilst Hastings is also surrounded by many large fields and is close to the sea. Think about the Batlle of Hastings (1066) fought on large fields, maybe the Hastings spirit would take hold and they would fight the vampires off? Remember we english are a proud race and dont accept sharp toother outisders as easily as other countries.

WesScog

Thanks, but i'm not going to film it myself, it's just a spec script I was asked to write.
