I absolutely love this program. You can do ANYTHING with it (sound-wise, obviously). The demo is completely free and you can export WAV, MP3 and MIDI files with it but you can't save projects...it's costs $150 for the Producer edition (which I have...I got it legally too, so don't be getting it off on some torrent, okay? :-P) It's really worth the $150; trust me.

Granted, it has a lot of features that unfortunately, you gotta learn, read and watch tutorials about how to use them, but once you get the gist of it, you'll love it. ;-)

I use Sony Acid Home Studio it's about $70.00. It does everything I need, so far. Also to really get customized music I have a Boss DR5 drum machine. I plug that in to my Line In on my sound card and record it with Sony Acid and then adjusr as needed. There is a 30 Day free demo of the product.

Fruity Loops Studio is pretty complex. (Windows only I believe)

For beginners, who have a Mac, there's always Garage Band. And if you want to enter the realm of complex on a Mac, try Logic Pro like noneimportant77 suggested.

Yeah, FL Studio is Windows only...but it will run on Macs if you have Boot Camp and Windows installed on it.

I love fruity loops. Ive made my own EDM tracks, sampled my guitar and made rock tracks with it (have my own drum machine plugins), and scored 3d CG movies ive made with it.

Its more for making music than sound effects, but FL does give u the ability to basically generate any sound u can conjure in your head. I love a lot of the plugins I have for it. U can make decent sounds like explosions, sword clanging, gunshots, doorslams, footsteps, etc, plus since its designed for making music u can time things well like matching a footstep sound to a guy walking on screen.

Its not that hard to learn, I learned it just by playing with it for a year or so making music. Its a very large program and id say my knowledge of it is amateur, but its not hard to figure out how to do basic things with it if youre a computer savvy person. I would imagine tutorials and such are easy to find.

The one great filter, is the guitar, there's a D4 destroyer pedal you can apply, and it sounds like the real thing. Absolutely amazing. :steve:
