I wasn't expecting it, but I got a JVC GR-D770 for Christmas. I took it out and looked at it, seems pretty standard for the stuff some friends and my school use. Read some reviews and they seem pretty ok. Doesn't seem to have a mic in, so I can't attach a boom to it. What do you guys think? Anything else in that price range (I guess they paid around $250, don't wanna ask) that's considerably better? Thanks.

This camera seems pretty nice, so... if there's no negative reviews, I'd also like to know about inexpensive minidisc recorders for doing sound with a shotgun mic and boom, since it doesn't have a mic input.

You dont need a recorder. After you make your scene, make another take and speak into the mic your lines. and put that audio in the video in editing

You're suggesting shooting the scene, and then basically redubbing the lines over the action/dialogue?

I forsee a poorly-editted kung-fu or Italian zombie movie in my future.

lol well goodbomb a lot of people already do that with dubbing at the end. But... I too would prefer recording the lines while they actually happen. I have the same problem u have my camera has no mic input.

I would suggest getting quality microphones and either investing in a recorder of some kind or just using a laptop if u have one?

I've got microphones, I'm just looking for a decent, budget minidisc recorder.
